    Job Description:

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Maintenance Helper I is responsible for maintenance and repair of hospital environmental systems, equipment, buildings, and grounds. Install, renovate, repair, and troubleshoot all types of electrical equipment and systems. Test and perform preventive maintenance of all equipment. Remain current on all codes and standards pertaining to hospital buildings and properties. Recommend PM procedures for all equipment.

    EDUCATION

    _For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation._

    EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

    **Minimum Required:** Must have three years of mechanical maintenance experience; must have at least one year experience or training in at least one of the following areas: electrical repair, plumbing, boiler operation, or carpentry skills; must have training or experience in welding, engine repair, sheet metal work, and painting. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints; must be able to work in areas of high heat and humidity, dusty and dirty, and outside in the cold weather; must be able to work in cramped quarters; must be able to work long hours in heavy snow storms; must be able to do heavy lifting.
