Western Kentucky University, a member of Conference USA and a Football Bowl Subdivision NCAA member institution, seeks to hire an individual for the position of Softball Assistant Coach. This is a 12-month, full-time position. This position will report directly to the Women's Softball head coach. Applicants must have a commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of WKU, Conference USA and the NCAA.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.

+ Coach practice sessions and workouts

+ Assist with coaching responsibilities during athletic events

+ Assist with the recruitment of prospective student-athletes

+ Demonstrate working knowledge of overall and sport-related NCAA compliance

+ Plans coaching and practice sessions in accordance with NCAA and conference regulations

+ Coach team members individually and in groups, and demonstrate game techniques

+ Develops and implements game strategy and position assignments

+ Track academic progress of student-athletes

+ Build relationships within the community

+ Attend preparatory meetings and implement strategies resulting from these meetings

+ Other duties as assigned by the head coach

Knowledge and Skills Considered Essential for Success:

+ Prior baseball or softball playing or coaching experience at the collegiate level

+ Recruiting experience

+ Excellent oral and written communication skills

+ Ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy

+ Strong attention to detail

+ Must be self-motivated and team-oriented

+ Excellent organization, interpersonal, and communication skills

+ Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends

+ The duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed in a competent manner following the highest standards for leadership, professionalism, integrity, accountability, responsibility, cooperation and customer service

Job Requirements:

+ Bachelor's degree

+ Prior experience playing or coaching in the sports of baseball or softball at collegiate level

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $43,000 - $47,000
