Duties Description The New York State Department of Labor is seeking a highly motivated intern to work in the Division of Employment and Workforce Solutions (DEWS) Worker Adjustment & Retraining Notification (WARN) Unit. The NYS WARN Act requires covered businesses to provide early warnings of closures and layoffs to all affected workers. Reporting to the NYS WARN Coordinator within the WARN Unit, the WARN Intern will assist with reporting, quality assurance, and community education. This internship will offer hands-on experience in workforce development, case management, and quality assurance, while gaining valuable insights into companion programs Shared Work and Rapid Response.The intern can expect to gain hands-on experience in the following areas:Data Analysis and Reporting:? Compile and analyze data on case outcomes and program effectiveness.? Prepare reports summarizing key metrics and trends related to rapid response activities.? Assist in identifying areas for program improvement based on data analysis.? Conduct quality assurance reviews and associated reporting.Research and Policy Support:? WARN Regulation review and implementation.? Conduct research on emerging trends in workforce development and labor market conditions.? Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must be a student currently enrolled in upcoming/current college courses.Preferred Skill sets: • Education: Rising junior or senior pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice, Legal Specialties, Public Policy/Administration, or a related field focused on workforce development.• Strong interest in workforce development and policy review and implementation.• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and MS Excel.
