We are on the lookout for an experienced Staff Accountant and considering applications for the role of a Staff Accountant in Mission Viejo, California.

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant assists with the accounting operations of the organization at the corporate and project levels. This role is responsible for reporting on capital calls, loans, equity contributions-distributions, account reconciliations, and audits, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting to internal and external users.

Key Responsibilities:

1. General ledger and cash management of assigned properties

2. Account reconciliations including debt & equity

3. Monthly journal entries and accruals

4. Original and working budget-estimate changes, pending & approved, in Sage300

5. Fixed asset schedules, tracking of completed units

6. Semi-annual property tax bills (including Supplementals)

Accounts Payable:

• Monitor Accounts Payable for accuracy, mentor AP accountants

• Review utility services tracking and processing of online payments

• Oversee weekly check requests, permit fee payments as required

• Manage AP check runs for job cost

• Track retention, lien waivers, certificates of insurance

Cash Management:

• Assist with decisioning positive pay issues – as required

• Initiate ACH / account transfer payments for approval by senior management

• Manage cashflow

• Loan / Equity reconciliations

Capital Calls:

• Prepare capital call submittal packages to equity partners

• Estimates due by 10th of each month, final draw/loan requests due 15th-20th

• Prepare AIA billings – G-702 and G-703 Forms

Financial Reporting [Month-End Close]

• Reconcile bank accounts

• Post journal entries (Assets placed in service, solar and operating expense reclass, depreciation & amortization, loan reconciliation, accrued loan interest,

• Prepare monthly/quarterly internal & external-lender and partner financials

• Compile financial documentation for required annual audit(s)

• Liaison with auditors – provide backup, working papers as needed

Additional Tasks:

• Interact with other Departments: Purchasing, Development as needed

• Participate in strategic accounting process improvements

• Contribute to meeting operational accounting department goals

• Liaison with auditors – annual audit

• Set up new entities in Sage 300 CRE

• Ad-Hoc reporting

Requirements

Qualifications Guidelines:

• BA/BS Degree in Accounting or related field -OR- comparable work experience

• Key areas of Knowledge include

• Bank/account reconciliations

• Fixed asset tracking

• Financial statement and cash flow statement creation

• Understanding of job-costing principles

• Thorough knowledge of GAAP, accounting principles and procedures

• Understand WIP – Work-In-Process calculations

Years of experience +3 in a high volume, fast paced multi-entity environment
