Avian/exotics relief veterinarian, reptile experience required

VCA Wakefield Animal Hospital is seeking an exotics veterinarian to lend a hand while one of our doctors is on leave. Comfort with birds and reptiles is required. An interest in cat and dogs is a plus but not a requirement.

We moved into our new facility in 2020, and it was designed with the comfort of our patients in mind:

+ Dogs are separated from other species in our lobbies, exam rooms, treatment areas, and holding areas. Additionally, iCalm music is played throughout.

+ Most of our 11 doctors, 13 CVTs, 25 assistants, and 20 client service representatives are Fear Free™ Certified Professionals, and we are committed to making veterinary visits a great experience for our patients and their people.

+ We are also committed to hands-free radiology (currently at 90%).

+ We’ve been AHAA-accredited for more than 40 years.

_Schedule_

+ Our full-time doctors work a four-day week and rotate opening, closing, and weekend shifts.

+ We’re open 7 days (7:20-8:30 Monday-Friday, 8-6 weekends).

_Cases_

Although we see plenty of dogs (50%) and cats (30%), experience with birds, reptiles, and small mammals (20%) is a requirement for this relief role. There is potential for growth to a bigger role for the right candidate, but it is not an expectation.

_Qualifications_

+ A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, from an accredited university or equivalent.

+ Licensure in good standing to practice in Massachusetts or the ability to obtain.

+ A commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics.
