    JOB SUMMARY:

    We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Control Panel Builder to join our team in supporting the design and assembly of electrical control panels for industrial automation and material handling systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in panel building, wiring, and troubleshooting, with a strong understanding of electrical schematics and industrial standards. The position reports to the Operations Manager/Shop Foreman and will be required to take direction from project leaders, including Project Managers, automation technicians assigned as project technician leads, and other Adaptec managers/leaders.

    JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Assemble and wire control panels according to electrical schematics, layout drawings, and bill of materials.

    + Mount components such as relays, PLCs, motor drives, circuit breakers, and terminal blocks.

    + Perform point-to-point wiring and ensure proper labeling and routing of wires.

    + Conduct quality checks and functional testing of completed panels.

    + Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve design or assembly issues.

    + Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety and quality standards.

    + Document modifications and updates to panel designs or wiring layouts.

    + Assist in troubleshooting and repair of panels during installation or testing phases.

    + Traveling to the customer job site to install equipment, perform preventable maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electronic equipment. Maintain technical knowledge.

    + Appropriately document all work performed (i.e., field service reports/mechanical & electrical print updates). Provide technical assistance to operators and supervisors on mechanical, electrical, electronic, and pneumatic problems.

    + Ensure timekeeping is entered correctly and in accordance with Adaptec requirements.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    + High School diploma or GED required.

    + Vocational or technical training in the electrical field is preferred.

    + Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

    + Familiarity with UL508A standards and industrial control components.

    + Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

    + Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.

    + Understanding of PLCs and industrial automation systems.

    + Valid driver’s license is required to travel to customer locations.

    + Ability/Willingness to work overtime on an as-needed basis.

    + 3 years minimum experience in an automation assembly environment.

    SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE JOB:

    + Strong mechanical & electrical troubleshooting skills.

    + Excellent attention to detail.

    + Ability to read blueprints, and comprehend specifications, and schematics.

    + Demonstrates organizational and project management skills, including the ability to set and manage multiple priorities, and to set and meet deadlines.

    + Ability to maintain accurate records and data files.

    + Excellent written and oral communication skills to interact with diverse internal and external groups.

    + Ability to read and interpret engineering and industry-related technical instructions and specifications in mathematical or diagram form to understand and define product requirements.

    + Ability to work in a team environment.

    + Computer knowledge including word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and generating reports using standard software applications.

    EQUIPMENT, MACHINES, AND SOFTWARE USED:

    Basic Equipment and Machinery: Various hand, and power tools, forklift, pallet jack, electrical meters, and test equipment. Proper PPE – Safety glasses and shoes.

     

    Experience with Bridgeport operations is a plus.

     

    Computer Software: Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat

    PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, grasp, handle, feel, reach, push, pull, lift, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, climb, balance, and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists.

     

    Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

     

    Close mental and visual attention is required for controlling machines or processes at a rapid pace requiring close coordination and fine adjustment.

    ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

    Most work performed in a typical manufacturing/production environment. However, the employee could be subject to adverse environmental conditions such as: noise, vibration, occupational hazards (moving mechanical parts), fumes, odors, dust, and oils when traveling to customer locations.

     

    In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the wage range for this role is$30.00 - 40.00 / hour.The rate range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Adaptec Solutions considers factors including, but not limited to experience and geographic location.
