    Position Summary

    The Department of Clinical Sciences at Colorado State University invites applications for a 12-month, non-tenure track Instructor, Assistant, Associate, Professor position in Dermatology. Clinical services will be based in the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital on the South Campus of Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado.

     

    The Dermatology Service provides diagnosis and treatment for primarily small companion animals but may consult on a wide range of species, horses, livestock, and exotics. The service is supported by a strong caseload, dedicated staff, and state-of-the-art facilities, including a recently completed dermatology wing featuring dedicated exam rooms, advanced video otoscopy equipment, and specialized procedure areas.

     

    Collaborative research opportunities are readily available through the department, hospital, and broader university community, including partnerships with nearby institutions such as Poudre Valley Hospital and the University of Colorado. The Translational Medicine Institute, a state-of-the-art facility adjacent to the VTH , further enhances opportunities for translational research and continuing education.

    Required Job Qualifications

     

    Instructor

     

    + DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree

    + Completion of an approved American College of Veterinary Dermatology ( ACVD ) or equivalent and eligibility to take the certification examination

    + Upon completion of achieving diplomate status, candidates will be eligible for promotion to Assistant Professor with a commensurate annualized salary increase

    + Eligibility for academic veterinary licensure in the State of Colorado.

     

    Assistant Professor

     

    + DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree

    + Board certified in the American College of Veterinary Dermatology ( ACVD ) or equivalent

    + Eligibility for academic veterinary licensure in the State of Colorado.

     

    Associate Professor

     

    + DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree

    + Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Dermatology ( ACVD ) or equivalent

    + 5 years of experience at the Assistant Professor rank or equivalent

    + Eligibility for academic veterinary licensure in the State of Colorado.

    Preferred Job Qualifications

    + Experience in instruction of DVM students

    + Clinical Assignment – Provide up to 34 weeks of clinical effort per year to the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital. This includes active instruction of junior and senior veterinary medical students and participation in the clinical training of interns and residents rotating through the Dermatology services.

    + Didactic Assignment– Provide lecture and laboratory instruction to DVM and graduate students on topics related to dermatology.
