    The P.O.S.T. Unit is seeking a customer service focused Administrative Assistant to join their dynamic team. The Unit has direct impact to the State of Colorado and its residents by managing statutory and rule requirements and ensuring compliance of peace officers and academies throughout the state. This position will provide support to the entire team, including the Compliance, Granting, and Training sub-units, as well as POST leadership. This position also regularly supports the P.O.S.T. Board by preparing meetings and ensuring proper record management. If you are detail-oriented and want to support training and standards in public safety, this is the position for you!

    Description of Job

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    This position is located in the Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Unit within the Criminal Justice section of the Colorado Attorney General's Office. The Unit exists to assist the P.O.S.T. Board with the requirements of the statutorily mandated P.O.S.T. created curriculum and the supervision of training efforts of Colorado peace officers. The Unit is responsible for ensuring training needs of the law enforcement community are met by regularly developing and changing existing curriculum, setting and maintaining standards of law enforcement training academies, certifying and decertifying peace officers, and the administration of large amounts of grant funds for peace officer training.

     

    This position will provide basic administrative support to professional staff within all sub-units of POST and executive level administrative support to the POST Director, Deputy Director, and the POST Board. This position answers telephones, transfers calls, files documents, takes meeting notes, processes mail, performs data entry, sets up meeting rooms, and prepares peace officer certificates and all related correspondence. This position also makes travel reservations and coordinates the POST vehicle fleet. Position is responsible for purchasing equipment and supplies for the Unit. As needed, the position performs other duties to ensure coverage of the POST unit.

    Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

    WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

    Minimum Qualifications: Please document all relevant experience in detail on your application. Experience will not be inferred or assumed. Any part-time experience listed will be prorated.

    Experience Only:

    Two (2) years of general clerical/office support experience as the primary function of the job.

    OR

    Education and Experience:

    A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in general clerical/office support as the primary function of the job equal to two (2) years. This must include at least one (1) year of the general clerical/office support experience to qualify.

     

    If qualifying under the substitution, you will be required to provide a copy of your transcripts.

     

    Note: Candidates possessing a foreign degree must submit a translation (evaluation) of their degree from an accredited institution, such as The National Association of Credential Evaluations Services in order to be given credit for the degree.

    Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the minimum qualifications, the preferred applicant will also demonstrate and clearly describe the following skills and experience in their job application:

    + Demonstrated organizational skills, including attention to detail

    + Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel

    + Ability to work independently as well as with a team, including demonstrating collaboration and flexibility to address changing priorities

    + Experience or interest working for and with law enforcement

    + Experience working for the State of Colorado

    + Experience providing customer service over the telephone

    + Demonstrated strong initiative and experience being proactive at work

    + Experience in a role that required strong problem-solving skills

    Conditions of Employment:

    + Final candidates for employment must successfully pass a thorough criminal background investigation.

    + The POST unit offers flexible work arrangements. This position works in-office and remotely, and additional flexibility may be considered after a successful onboarding and training period. Please note, flexible work arrangements may change based on business needs.

    + Travel in-state as needed, including some overnight and weekend trips. Travel will be approximately 15% of the time.
