General Responsibilities:
As a Packaging Engineer with Pacific Scientific EMC, you will embed with Shipping as the internal customer to provide day-to-day packaging support with a focus on safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, cost control, and regulatory compliance.
Additionally, you will be part of the Manufacturing Engineering department, assisting and being assisted by a team of fellow engineers with varied subject matter expertise, experience levels, and assignments.
**Core Responsibilities** :
+ Review, interpret, and understand the contract, SPI, and any other shipping-related customer flowdowns as the basis for compliance in all other Packaging Engineer responsibilities.
+ Evaluate and select appropriate packaging materials, such as foam, corrosion protection, and shock-absorbing systems, to meet specific needs.
+ Create detailed packaging specifications, instructions, drawings, checklists, packaging BOMs, and other relevant documentation.
+ Ensure packaging materials comply with relevant specifications and regulatory requirements
+ Work closely with Shipping, Design, Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to resolve discrepancies and ensure packaging complies with contracts, specifications, and regulatory requirements
+ Document, maintain, modify, create, and validate any custom tooling, fixturing, and equipment used in packaging
+ Conduct and coordinate various packaging qualification tests including POP tests. Ensure packaging is tested at required intervals.
+ Identify, develop, and implement process improvements and efficiencies through focused internal events using a company structured continuous improvement system similar to Toyota Production Systems
+ Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions pertaining to packaging
+ Represent Shipping in Sales Order Kick Offs
+ Assist in training Shipping associates on packaging processes and requirements.
+ Attend Shipping start-of-shift meeting
+ Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
+ Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office products
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
+ Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills
+ Relentless commitment to quality, compliance, and attention to detail
+ Strong interpersonal skills
+ Ability to work independently and manage projects
+ Working knowledge of Solidworks or other CAD software
+ Past experience in a regulated environment such as Military, Semiconductor, Medical, Aircraft, or Food Processing industries a plus
+ Knowledge of Toyota Production Systems, Six Sigma, Demming Cycle, Statistical Process Control, or other continuous improvement methodology a plus
+ ASQ Certification a plus
+ Experience with AS9100 standards and other relevant aerospace quality standards a plus
Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline. Military or industry experience and training will be considered in lieu of degree.
+ 0-3 Years experience in a technical/manufacturing environment.

Pay Range
The salary range for this position (in local currency) is 52,200.00 - 96,900.00
Is this role subject to ITAR?
