The Department of Endodontics at the School of Dentistry has an outstanding opportunity for a Dental Assistant 2 to join their team.
POSITION PURPOSE
The Department of Endodontics at the School of Dentistry is one of the premier clinical training programs for endodontists in the country. Our faculty, staff, and students have a teamwork approach to clinical care to ensure the patient has the best possible treatment experience. The Department of Endodontics is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The Dental Assistant 2 under general supervision, will perform expanded dental assistant duties such as chairside assisting with various endodontics procedures; instruct graduate students and predoctoral students in expanded dental assistant duties, proper utilization of a dental assistant, instrument exchanges, and related functions and activities of a dental setting. Other duties may include ordering and inventory control, assisting with patient check-in when needed, coordinating clerical activities, and activities for patient care in the clinic.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
_Before Appointment (AM/PM) 25%_
+ Set up clinical units and sterilization of endodontic instruments; maintain endodontic specialty equipment; and set up the overflow unit as an additional unit for endodontics procedures if needed.
_During the Appointment 35%_
+ Greet and seat patients, adjust chair and prepare patient for dentist.
+ Chairside assisting with various endodontic procedures including but not limited to root canal treatments (RCT anterior, RCT bicuspid, RCT molar with three canals), retreatment of previous root canal (anterior, bicuspid, and molar), apicoectomy (root-end resection), and intracoronal bleaching.
+ Check with residents during each clinical session to insure they have the necessary materials for root canal procedures.
+ Instruct graduate students and predoctoral students in expanded dental assistant duties, proper use of a dental assistant, instrument exchanges, prepare drainage materials for an incision and drainage procedure, and other activities of a dental setting.
+ Take digital radiographs; operate water, air, and evacuating equipment.
+ Prepare and mix temporary treatment materials.
+ Deliver and set-up nitrous oxide and oxygen tanks weighing approx. 20-25 lbs.
+ Demonstrate four-handed instrument exchanges.
+ Lead the work of a Dental Assistant 1 and other support staff.
+ Instruct patients in home care.

+ Clean and maintain dental chairs and equipment.
+ Maintain endodontic instruments and handpieces
+ Set-up units
_Other 10%_
+ Assist with inventory of clinical supplies and restocking
+ Water shocking and testing
+ May perform all duties of a Dental Assistant 1
+ Perform related duties as required
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
+ Completion of a training program for dental assistants; current certification as a dental assistant (CDA) or the ability to obtain same within six months; or six months of dental assistant experience.

LEGAL REQUIREMENT
+ Registration with the State of Washington as a Dental Assistant.
Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
Pay Range Minimum:
$44,172.00 annual
Pay Range Maximum:
$59,484.00 annual
