Director of Institutional Research

The Director for Institutional Research reports to the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management and Strategy and is responsible for data linking, analysis, and reporting to inform institutional decision-making and monitor institutional effectiveness and viability. The Director contributes to the development and implementation of the Institutional Effectiveness Plan.
Essential Functions:
+ Responsible for data linking and analysis; specifically, to inform institutional decision-making and monitor institutional effectiveness and viability.
+ Assist with the development and implementation of the Institutional Effectiveness Plan.
+ Establish and maintain meaningful common data sets and dashboards (public and campus-facing) that will improve the quality of recruitment, retention, and assessment activities at all levels of the institution.
+ Work collaboratively with members of the College community at all levels of the institution.
+ Oversee requests and responses for information, assessment of the strategic plan, compliance for grant reporting, sharing of information about the college and institutional improvements.
+ Serve as a resource in evidence-based planning, decision making and reporting.
+ Develop and conduct training programs to support a culture of data literacy throughout the college.
+ Collaborate with Enterprise Systems and members of the Committee on Collaborative Data Governance to support data governance, monitor data accuracy and validate existing reports.
+ Ensure compliance for all reporting to SUNY, state, regional and federal agencies and accrediting bodies including but not limited to SIRIS, NYSED, IPEDS, and NCAA.
+ Regularly administer and consult with campus constituents on survey implementation, development, analysis, and reporting of results.
+ Provide support for various institutional initiatives as needed.
+ Represents the AVP at relevant meetings as needed.
Job Requirements:
+ Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
+ Three to five years in higher education with three years in institutional research or information support.
+ Knowledge of a broad spectrum of regional and national issues in higher education as well as federal and state mandated reporting required.
+ Proficiency with with Windows based software/Microsoft Office Suite, enterprise systems and relevant educational technologies.
+ Experience with reporting for colleges and to accreditation bodies.
+ Experience in analysis, data visualization, and communication of findings for evidence-based improvements.
+ Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to institutional planning, accreditation, and higher education governance.
+ Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and build consensus among diverse constituencies.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master's degree in educational research, social sciences, or other related disciplines
+ Proficiency with IR data software, enterprise systems, and related educational technologies such as SPSS, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI, Banner, Argos, Starfish, and Slate.
+ At least five years of experience in higher education, preferably in institutional research and assessment.
+ Experience in strategic planning.
+ Data analytic research experience and survey research experience preferred.
+ Supervisory experience.
