    The Director of Global Investigations will play a critical role in leading and overseeing bioMérieux’s global investigations program. This individual will be responsible for managing the overall strategy, execution, and governance of investigations into potential violations of laws, regulations, company policies, and ethical standards. They will oversee the end-to-end investigations process globally, ensuring consistency, fairness, and compliance with internal protocols and external legal requirements.

     

    As a senior-level investigator, the Director will personally lead complex, high-risk investigations, while also coaching and guiding regional compliance teams and other stakeholders who conduct investigations at the local level. The role requires a seasoned legal professional with deep experience in conducting corporate investigations, handling sensitive matters discreetly, and advising senior leadership on investigative findings and remediation strategies.

    Key Responsibilities

    Global Investigations Program Oversight

     

    + Develop, implement, and continuously enhance bioMérieux’s global investigations framework, ensuring adherence to best practices and legal requirements.

    + Ensure adherence to clear investigative protocols, methodologies, and procedures to ensure high-quality, consistent, and defensible investigations across all regions.

    + Oversee the intake, triage, assignment, and resolution of cases received through bioMérieux’s whistleblower channels and other reporting mechanisms.

    + Ensure the confidentiality, independence, and integrity of the investigations process.

    + Lead efforts to enhance investigative capabilities across the company, including training compliance officers, HR professionals, and other internal stakeholders on investigation techniques and best practices.

     

    Conduct & Manage Investigations

     

    + Lead and conduct high-risk, sensitive, and complex investigations involving potential violations of anti-corruption laws (e.g., FCPA, UK Bribery Act), fraud, conflicts of interest, trade compliance, discrimination, harassment, and other legal or ethical breaches.

    + Work closely with Legal, HR, Internal Audit, and other functions to coordinate and conduct cross-functional investigations when necessary.

    + Ensure that investigative reports are thorough, well-documented, objective, and legally sound, providing clear analysis, findings, and recommendations for corrective actions.

    + Identify root causes and trends based on investigation outcomes and provide strategic recommendations to mitigate future risks.

     

    Reporting & Governance

     

    + Provide regular reporting to senior leadership, including the Chief Compliance Officer, Executive Committee, and Audit & Compliance Committees, on investigations trends, key cases, and program improvements.

    + Partner with Legal, HR, and Internal Audit to develop remediation plans and track the implementation of corrective actions following investigations.

    + Ensure compliance with global laws and regulations related to internal investigations, whistleblower protections, and data privacy (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

     

    Stakeholder Engagement & Training

     

    + Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on investigative matters, ethical concerns, and risk mitigation strategies.

    + Lead training initiatives for internal teams on investigation techniques, interviewing skills, and ethical decision-making.

    + Collaborate with Public & Government Affairs to engage with regulatory bodies and law enforcement agencies as needed for external investigations or enforcement actions.

     

    Minimum Qualifications & Experience

     

    + Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree required (preferably with bar admission in at least one jurisdiction).

    + Minimum of 5+ years of experience in conducting or overseeing corporate investigations, preferably in a multinational organization, law firm, or government agency; including:

    + Strong knowledge of anti-corruption laws (FCPA, UK Bribery Act), anti-fraud regulations, trade compliance, whistleblower protections, and employment law.

    + Experience working with global teams and navigating investigations across multiple jurisdictions.

    + Strong understanding of data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA) and their impact on investigations.

    + 5+ years experience in leading sensitive and high-profile investigations independently, including interviewing witnesses, gathering and analyzing evidence, and drafting investigative reports.

     

    Preferred Skills & Attributes

     

    + Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) preferred.

    + Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

    + Ability to manage multiple, complex investigations simultaneously with a high degree of discretion, sensitivity, and integrity.

    + Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with senior executives, legal teams, regulators, and employees at all levels.

    + Experience leveraging technology and data analytics in investigations is a plus.

    + Fluency in English required; proficiency in French or other languages is an advantage.
