Description We are looking for an experienced Grant Analyst/Accountant to join our team in Oakland, California. This Contract-to-Permanent position requires a strong background in finance and cost accounting, coupled with excellent analytical and communication skills. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in managing grant finances, budgeting, and reporting, ensuring compliance and fostering collaboration across departments.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze and review the financial aspects of grants and projects from initiation to completion.

• Develop and monitor project budgets, track costs, and identify and address variances.

• Collect and assess financial data to identify trends and provide actionable insights.

• Lead regular meetings with program managers to review budget performance, trends, and projections.

• Assist in month-end financial close processes, including reporting, contract billing, and revenue reconciliation.

• Prepare funder invoices and financial reports while addressing accounts receivable inquiries and audit requirements.

• Communicate effectively with funders regarding invoicing, reporting, and compliance matters.

• Create detailed cost analysis reports and recommend strategies for improving financial performance.

• Support compliance efforts by ensuring adherence to government policies and procedures.

• Collaborate on special projects and provide financial data for proposal solicitations as needed. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.

• Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting.

• Proficiency in accounting software such as Oracle NetSuite or similar ERP systems.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace tools.

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in finance, including project cost accounting.

• Familiarity with nonprofit financial management and government contracts is a plus.

• Exceptional analytical, communication, and presentation skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
