Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Diesel Mechanic to perform repairs and preventative maintenance on trailers, cranes, processors, and trucks. The role involves diagnosing and troubleshooting repairs, understanding DOT information on trailers and AVI, and conducting safety inspections in compliance with FMCSA, company policies, and other regulations.

Responsibilities

+ Conduct repairs and required preventative maintenance on leased equipment, including trailers, cranes, processors, and trucks.

+ Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment repairs independently.

+ Understand and apply DOT information on trailers and AVI.

+ Perform safety inspections and prepare safety documents as required by FMCSA, company policies, and federal, state, or local regulations.

+ Perform major and minor parts changes, suspension, and wheel-end maintenance.

+ Conduct welding and cutting operations.

+ Identify and address equipment issues on trailers that could lead to safety problems or equipment failure.

+ Perform routine inspections of the work area to ensure proper maintenance.

+ Use a Volt Meter (not high voltage) and interpret electric and hydraulic schematics.

Essential Skills

+ Experience with air brake repair, hydraulics, brake systems, diesel engines, and transmission maintenance.

+ Proficiency in diesel maintenance and mechanical diagnosis.

+ Capability in engine repair and preventive maintenance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Entry-level diesel mechanic experience preferred.

+ Minimum requirement of auto mechanic experience.

+ Must possess own basic tools

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Decatur, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00/hr.
