The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Sexual Assault/Sexual Harassment Victim Advocate to eligible installation military, civilians, and dependents, providing effective prevention and response programs addressing sexual assault/harassment and other acts of interpersonal violence as well as areas pertaining to human relations and interpersonal violence. Responsibilities DUTY 1: Serves as an installation Sexual Assault/Sexual Harassment Victim Advocate. Provides a wide range of essential support and advocacy services, liaison services, and care to victims of sexual assault/sexual harassment in accordance with generally accepted procedures and techniques. DUTY 2: Maintains support and follow-up contact with sexual assault/sexual harassment victims throughout the lifecycle of the case. Responsible for providing initial response services such as access to emergency medical treatment (secondary prevention) and long-term support and care as needed (tertiary prevention). DUTY 3: Assists the installation SARC in the development and delivery of comprehensive sexual assault/sexual harassment training. Facilitates or assists in the planning, scheduling, and delivery of sexual assault/sexual harassment response training for all installation personnel, leadership, deploying personnel, and other key functional stakeholders to include annual refresher SAPR training. DUTY 4: Represents the SAPR installation program both military and civilian agencies. Establishes liaison with local victim support agencies in order to gain support and cooperation in achieving support for victims of sexual assault/sexual harassment and to promote the enhancement of the sexual assault/sexual harassment prevention and response services. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Professional and Scientific Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-0101, Social Science Series, 0101. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Education: Applicants must have successfully completed a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in behavioral or social science or related disciplines, appropriate for the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Specialist at the NH-0101-02 position. This education was obtained in an accredited college or university. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Must have a combination of education and experience that provides you with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (The quality of the combination of education and experience is sufficient to demonstrate that you possess the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform work in the occupation, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in behavioral or social science. Your creditable experience demonstrates analysis, writing, researching, and critical thinking skills sufficient to perform progressively more responsible work in the occupation. OR FOUR YEARS OF APPROPRIATE EXPERIENCE: that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of social science and social work principles, concepts, and practices relating to victim advocacy and prevention of and response to sexual assault/sexual harassment. Knowledge of laws, regulations, executive orders, issues, etc., to include the Air Force organizational structure, management policies, methods, and practices relating to sexual assault/sexual harassment victim advocacy, and related interpersonal violence. Knowledge of social service delivery systems, methods, and theories relating to victim advocacy, sexual assault/sexual harassment Knowledge of training and education techniques to implement and deliver sexual assault/sexual harassment training. Skill in applying tact and diplomacy during interactions with internal and external officials during difficult and sensitive circumstances and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with organizations and individuals to identify, establish, modify and provide victim support/assistance. Ability to employ various methods and techniques typical of a sexual assault/sexual harassment victim advocate program, including crisis intervention, situational assessment, and analyzing the needs of the victim to provide support and/or assistance to them in the resolution of complex problems. IDEAL CANDIDATE: Serves as a Sexual Assault/Sexual Harassment Victim Advocate to eligible installation level military, civilians, and dependents. Provides effective prevention and response programs addressing sexual assault/sexual harassment and other acts of interpersonal violence as well as other areas pertaining to human relations and interpersonal violence. Will provide a wide range of essential support and advocacy services, liaison services, and care to victims of sexual assault/sexual harassment in accordance with generally accepted procedures and techniques. Assists victims of sexual assault/sexual harassment in their effort towards the process of recovery, through advocacy and resource information.
