    Summary THIS IS AN ARMY NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a TITLE 32 AMMUNITION AND EXPLOSIVES HANDLER (MI USPFO S&S DIV - ASP FCTC), Position Description Number NGD2278000 and is part of the MI USPFO, Michigan Army National Guard. Responsibilities ***THIS IS A TITLE 32 NATIONAL GUARD POSITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP*** This position is located in the United States Property & Fiscal Office (USPFO) Supply & Services Division, Ammunition Supply Point (ASP). This is an Army National Guard (ARNG) Dual Status Technician position requiring military membership, compatible military skill assignment, and classification. The primary purpose of this position is to perform the handling, storage, examining, transporting, and identifying of ammunition and explosives to detect defects, serviceability, deterioration, and compliance with all ammunition and explosives regulations, acceptable standards, specifications, or contractual requirements, as well as policy and procedures. Performs Ammunition Inspections pertaining to the receipt, classification, storage, issue and shipment of ammunition items. May receive shipments of all types of ammunition and verify DA form 1348 against Depot surveillance Records for correct NSN and Condition Code. Conducts inspection of ammunition being turned-in to determine suitability for further training needs. Takes appropriate steps in the disposition of Ammunition Condition Codes - H (ACCH) material. Prepares items for shipment to other depots and/or installations. Using the correct Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and packing requirements, ensures all shipments meet DOT requirements, are palletized and banded according to the hazard class division, and establishes the correct weight and cube. Verification Inspection. Performs a variety of routine and special inspections of conventional ammunition. Performs quality monitoring of maintenance operations, area inspections magazine storage inspections and basic load inspections. Demilitarization Inspections. Monitors ammunition and explosive related operations at firing sites and demilitarization areas for adherence to regulations and procedures concerning explosives, compatibility, quantity distance, explosive and personnel limits, transportation and utilization of protective equipment. Inspects ammunition and components using appropriate Ammunition Surveillance Procedures. Transportation Related Inspections. Inspects empty military vans and trucks to ensure that carriers meet standards for transporting ammunition, explosives, and other hazardous materials. Performs inspections of incoming and outgoing vehicles for blocking and bracing, compatibility and compliance with applicable storage and out-loading drawings security requirements, as well as compliance with applicable DOT regulations. Propellant Inspections. Inspects propellant charge containers and bulk propellants in storage. Inspects condition of powder bags for service-ability, safety, and markings. Military Grades: E1-E7 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training with provided the primary skills and knowledge necessary to recommend serviceability and detect hazardous or nonstandard conditions of ammunition and explosive items by visual examination or by use of test equipment. Technical knowledge of a variety of ammunition. Must be able to read, understand and research technical drawings, specifications, data sheets, serviceability standards, and technical manuals for ammunition and explosive items. Must have knowledge of regulations and standards for safety in receiving, shipping, storing, and handling of ammunition and explosives. Knowledge of inspection criteria related to commercial and military vehicles for unsafe mechanical conditions prior to loading with ammunition and explosives. Knowledge of environmental rules and regulations to ensure the Ammunition Supply Point has no infractions. Ability to operate motor vehicles and forklifts for loading/unloading, transportation, and storage of Ammunition and Explosive materials. Education No substitution of education allowed for this position.
