    Position Summary:

    Description of Job

    The Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness Specialist oversees programming that helps prepare students for the next step in their educational and life pathway. This position will oversee industry recognized credential (IRC) initiatives and provide technical assistance and support to school districts across Colorado. Industry recognized credential is defined as an industry recognized certification and a non-degree credential.

    The Colorado Department of Education’s strategic plan includes the following Wildly Important Goal: Starting with the anticipated year of graduation of 2029, 100% of graduates will have achieved at least one of the following:

    1) Earned a quality, in-demand non-degree credential;

     

    2) Earned 12 college credits that count toward a postsecondary credential;

     

    3) Participated in one high-quality industry-recognized credentials (WBL) opportunity (from Learning Through Work and Learning at Work sections of the Colorado Industry-recognized credentials Continuum and outlined in thequality expectations (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Z2SorYYPTPOUxhFKsBx9CYjXm0iWmS\_Sai8l208Wed0/edit?tab=t.0) ). This position is integral to ensuring students have the opportunity for high quality industry-recognized credentials opportunities while in high school.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    + Manage the implementation and coordination of secondary industry-recognized credentials opportunities at local education providers (LEPs), overseeing related procedures and processes.

    + Plan and execute technical assistance, training, webinars, presentations, and professional learning related to industry-recognized credentials to support local education providers in offering industry-recognized credentials opportunities to all high school students by 2029.

    + Collaborate with the Colorado Department of Education's (CDE’s) Information Management Services unit to fulfill data reporting requirements for secondary industry-recognized credentials opportunities.

    + Write documents that accurately reflect and align with state statute and State Board of Education rules regarding secondary industry-recognized credentials requirements.

    + Support LEPs with submission of self-reported data on secondary industry-recognized credentials outcomes.

    + Analyze secondary industry-recognized credentials outcomes data to expand access to students across the state.

    + Serve as liaison to partner agencies, vendors and other constituents for secondary industry-recognized credentials outcomes.

    + Develop written correspondence, documents, reports and materials for internal and external audiences for secondary industry-recognized credentials opportunities.

    + Initiate, develop and implement, in coordination with CDE’s Communication Division, creative ways to communicate promising practices to K-12 districts and charter schools.

    + Collaborate across CDE offices and units, and with external state and federal agencies.

    + Comply with all department, state, partner and federal regulations and guidelines.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Work Environment:

    This position is Full-time, is Hybrid (Remote/Home Office w/requirement to report to Work location per business needs)

     

    + Office hours are typically Mon-Fri, 8 am-5 pm

    + Extended hours during the evening or the weekend may be required by business needs

    + A Remote (Home) office is required

    Minimum Requirements:

    + Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, plus at least three (3) years of experience in K-12 education, higher education and with industry recognized credential programs experience

    + OR seven (7) years of professional experience in a relevant field involving industry recognized credential experiences in partnership with K-12, Career and Technical Education and higher education.

    Competency and Qualification Requirements:

    + Excellent organizational and leadership skills.

    + Time management skills to stay organized and effectively prioritize multiple projects with varying timelines and responsibilities.

    + Demonstrates excellent analytical skills, particularly in interpreting outcomes-related data.

    + Ability to interpret statutory data reporting requirements and implement technical solutions to accomplish them.

    + Ability to interpret and implement state statute and State Board of Education rules.

    + Skilled in utilizing a range of digital tools to support fieldwork, collaboration, and the secure sharing of information and documents, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, survey platforms, and Syncplicity.

    + Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to develop and manage large-scale programs and projects, while effectively partnering with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including industry representatives, technical assistance providers and various offices and units within CDE.

    + Must possess a valid driver’s license.

    + Up to 10% in-state travel required, with occasional overnight stays as necessary.

    + The ability to pass a background check, which includes a motor vehicle records search.

    + Ability to effectively communicate, present and deliver training to diverse audiences. Knowledge of educational systems within the state of Colorado.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Experience working with rural communities in Colorado
