SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The PRN Specialty/Mail Order Pharmacist provides pharmaceutical care and operational support in a non-retail, centralized dispensing environment. This position is responsible for the safe and accurate preparation, verification, and dispensing of specialty and mail order prescriptions while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards. The pharmacist collaborates with clinical staff, providers, and patients to optimize medication therapy, improve adherence, and deliver a high-quality patient experience.
Responsibilities:
+ Verify prescriptions for appropriateness, accuracy, and compliance with federal and state regulations.
+ Provide clinical review for drug interactions, therapeutic duplications, contraindications, and dosing accuracy.
+ Ensure accurate preparation and timely dispensing of specialty and mail order prescriptions.
+ Support mail order fulfillment including verification of packaging, labeling, and shipping processes.
+ Collaborate with physicians, nurses, case managers, and pharmacy technicians to coordinate care and resolve medication-related issues.
+ Document clinical interventions, patient interactions, and outcomes in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
+ Maintain knowledge of specialty disease states (e.g., oncology, rheumatology, infectious disease, neurology) and emerging therapies.
+ Uphold all URAC/ACHC/other accreditation standards and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
+ Serve as a resource for pharmacy technicians and support staff regarding clinical or operational questions.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations.
**PRN/As Needed** : Flexible schedule to provide coverage during peak volume, staff absences, or special projects. **Monday thru Friday Day Shift** .
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
+ B.S. or Pharm.D. degree in pharmacy required.
+ Current Pennsylvania Licensure or eligibility required.
+ Previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
+ Must be an effective communicator and have excellent time management and conflict resolution skills.
