    A Day in the Life

     

    The Director of Mitral & Tricuspid Medical Education will play a strategic and transformative role in enabling the safe and successful adoption of novel mitral and tricuspid therapies—therapies that have the potential to change lives and create billion-dollar businesses. This leader will be responsible for developing and executing global healthcare professional (HCP) training strategy that not only ensure clinical excellence but also drive innovation in how education is delivered and scaled.

     

    This leader will build and lead a high-performing, globally distributed team, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and accountability. This role requires a forward-thinking leader who can anticipate future learning needs, champion new technologies, and align training initiatives with broader business and clinical strategies.

Significant time will be spent designing and executing global physician training events, with a strong emphasis on hands-on, immersive learning experiences. Candidates must be prepared to travel up to 30% of the time to support field-based training, team development, and stakeholder engagement.

    Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

    + Design and develop a global medical educational strategy and structure—including curriculum, content, and delivery methods—to ensure safe growth and positive clinical outcomes in mitral and tricuspid therapies.

    + Define and implement best-in-class tools and formats for delivering education, including patient selection, pre-procedure planning, procedural training, and post-procedure follow-up.

    + Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing global team to design, implement, and scale medical education programs.

    + Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with professional societies to expand the reach and credibility of education initiatives.

    + Lead the global physician proctoring program to facilitate peer-to-peer learning and clinical mentorship.

    + Serve as a core team member in new product development programs, ensuring education is embedded early in therapy planning.

    + Create and manage processes for continuous improvement by analyzing clinical outcomes, participant feedback, and expert input.

    + Collaborate across a broad network of internal stakeholders including HCPs, senior leadership (e.g., Chief Medical Officer), Clinical Research, Field Training, Therapy Development, Regulatory, Legal, Quality, Marketing, and Physician Relations.

    + Champion innovation in medical education by integrating digital learning tools, simulation, and hybrid learning models.

    + Drive a culture of excellence, accountability, and creativity within the team and across the broader organization.

    Must Have: Minimum Requirements- To be considered for this role, please ensure the minimum requirements are evident in your applicant profile:

    + Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in life sciences, education, business, or a clinical field (e.g., nursing, biomedical engineering) strongly preferred.

    + 5+ years of experience in medical education, adult learning, clinical practice, device sales/marketing, or related healthcare functions.

    Required Knowledge and Experience:

    + Proven expertise in instructional design and adult learning principles, including digital and hybrid education formats.

    + Experience launching novel medical devices and/or building new therapy areas, ideally in structural heart or interventional cardiology.

    + Strong understanding of or ability to quickly learn structural heart disease states and therapies.

    + Strong track record of building trusted relationships with physicians and key opinion leaders to support peer-to-peer education and program adoption.

    + Demonstrated success in developing and executing global medical education strategies.

    + Proven ability to recruit, lead, and develop high-performing global teams.

    + Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.

    + Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives.

    + Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% globally to support physician training and stakeholder engagement.

    The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.  Base pay is based on numerous factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

    Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$172,800.00 - $259,200.00

     

    This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

     

    This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

     

    The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others

     

    The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

     

    The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).
