The Office is currently seeking an Assistant Attorney General in the Medicaid Fraud Division of the Office.
The incumbent will serve primarily as a criminal prosecutor working to protect the integrity of Minnesota’s medical assistance program and ensure accountability for those who defraud it. The division also prosecutes abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation of vulnerable adults upon referral from county attorneys’ offices, many of whom come from lesser populated counties. The division responds to criminal appeals and post-conviction petitions as well. Finally, the incumbent may also handle a limited civil case load of False Claims Act cases.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work environment (combination of in-office work and telework).
Minimum Qualifications
+ Graduation from a law school accredited by the ABA and actively licensed in good standing to practice law in the State of Minnesota (or current licensure within another state with ability to transfer licensure within 90 days of hire)
+ Outstanding writing, research, and oral communication/advocacy skills (writing sample is required with application submission)
+ Strong research, analytical, and trial strategy skills
+ Ability to:
+ travel to counties throughout the state
+ multitask by managing an active caseload and meeting tight deadlines
+ contribute positively to a team and interact successfully with clients and members of the public
+ Proven ability to work in an inclusive, creative, and collaborative work environment
+ Proven ability to show excellent judgement, character, and work ethic

To be considered at the S2 level, candidates must have at least 6 years of directly related experience. To be considered at the S3 level, candidates must have at least 12 years of directly related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience practicing criminal law as a prosecutor of defense attorney
+ Experience using electronic files and case management tools
+ Familiarity with Medicaid
+ Experience with, or interest in, working on lengthy, complex, document-intensive cases
Physical Requirements
+ Ability to move and transport such articles as files, laptop computer and resource materials weighing up to 20 pounds
