    Join our team at Cleveland Clinic's Pediatric Therapy at Treasure Coast, where we provide comprehensive services in physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT) and speech-language pathology (SLP) for children aged 0-18. Our services are available at multiple locations throughout the Treasure Coast, including the Martin North Medical Office Building in Jensen Beach. Our facility offers specialized pediatric therapy services, addressing a wide range of conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, feeding difficulties and speech disorders.

     

    As an Occupational Therapist at CCMH outpatient rehab, you will provide therapy services to children aged 0-18 with a variety of needs and challenges, including autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, learning disabilities, sensory processing disorder and traumatic brain injury. In this role, you will help children achieve their highest level of independence and participation in daily activities such as self-care, play, schoolwork and social skills by conducting assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, implementing interventions, evaluating progress and providing education and support to families. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, speech therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, teachers and physicians to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to care, while utilizing a range of modalities such as toys, games, assistive devices, sensory integration techniques and neurodevelopmental approaches tailored to each child's needs.

     

    A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. or 9:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.** **_This role is based at TCMP with occasional floating at SLW Pediatric Clinic as required._

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Evaluate patients using standardized tools, joint/musculoskeletal assessment, and clinical observation to identify functional limitations, developmental delays, or challenges.

    + Develop individualized treatment plans, implement interventions, monitor progress and adjust plans as needed to achieve functional goals.

    + Provide occupational therapy services for children (ages 0-18) and adults with upper extremity injuries, disease, disability, or developmental disorders (e.g., autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, learning disabilities, sensory processing disorder, traumatic brain injury).

    + Apply a wide range of therapeutic techniques, including P/ROM, joint mobilization, massage, myofascial release, desensitization, dressing changes, job simulation and play-based pediatric interventions.

    + Utilize thermal and electrical physical agent modalities such as hot/cold packs, fluidotherapy, paraffin/contrast baths, ultrasound, phonophoresis, TENS, NMES, HVPGS, iontophoresis and biofeedback.

    + Fabricate custom splints, recommend/adapt equipment and train clients and families in their safe and effective use.

    + Address fine motor skills (e.g., handwriting, buttoning, utensil use), sensory integration needs, social-emotional development and self-regulation through individualized, engaging, play-based activities.

    + Collaborate with families, caregivers and multidisciplinary teams-including PTs, SLPs, psychologists, educators, physicians and case managers-to ensure coordinated and holistic care.

    + Communicate effectively with staff, physicians, rehab nurses, case managers, employers and family members to support treatment continuity.

    + Document evaluations, daily notes, progress summaries, physician reports and billing records in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

    + Provide education and training to families and caregivers to encourage skill carryover at home and in community settings.

    + Occasionally assist Industrial Service Department clients, including workman's compensation cases.

    + Stay current with best practices through in-services, workshops and professional development; mentor or receive supervision as part of a collaborative clinical team.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Bachelor, Master and/or Doctoral degree from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy

    + Occupational Therapist (OT) license in the State of Florida

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

    + Internship experience

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Strong understanding of various rehabilitation techniques

    + Proficient with patient care, including monitoring vital signs, assisting with mobility and using rehabilitation equipment

    + Previously worked in an outpatient pediatric setting

    Physical Requirements:

    + Work is medium/frequent, lifting and carrying equipment, supplies and materials up to 50 pounds without help of mechanical devices or other personnel.

    + Stooping, pushing, reaching and pulling when moving patients or equipment into position for treatment.

    + The occupant of this position spends 98% his/her time in air-conditioned areas, the remainder in outside areas.

    + The potential for exposure to blood and blood-borne pathogens is present while completing clinical duties.

    + This position requires reasoning, mathematical and English language skills.

    + Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests.

    + Ability to resolve conflicts among staff and to work collaboratively.

    + Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs and carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities.

    + Self-starting and self-motivating; working hours may exceed eight hours per day and is based on what is needed to accomplish work.

    Personal Protective Equipment:

    + Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
