    Director of Environmental Health & Safety for the Academic Campus for BJC HealthCare

     

    _This role will oversee the campuses of Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis Children's Hospital and Barnes Jewish West County. They will be responsible for environmental health and safety, occupational health, workers comp, emergency preparedness and licensing and accrediation._

    Role Purpose

     

    Directs the development and implementation of hospital regulatory and accreditation compliance and programming in the areas of Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Workers Compensation, Emergency Preparedness, Licensing and Accreditation. Acts on behalf of Barnes-Jewish Hospital as external liaison to all federal, state and city regulatory agencies. Works directly with these agencies in the areas of strategic planning, policy development, documentation, permitting, reporting and audits.

    Responsibilities

    + Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.

    + Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.

    + Directs, develops and coordinates hospital-wide regulatory compliance program.

    + Establishes and executes strategic plans to guide and support hospital and departmental leadership teams in managing regulatory compliance matters and assuring the facility is in compliance with regulatory, licensing and accreditation standards.

    + Develops performance improvements plans to close gaps in areas where there are compliance and regulatory shortfalls and ensures effective preparation activities are completed hospital-wide. Performs mock surveys in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.

    + Disseminates requirements and compliance information to hospital departments.

    + Functions as direct liaison to external regulatory and accreditation agencies.
