Highpoint Health with Ascension Saint Thomas has an opportunity for a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Medical Surgical team.

Highpoint Health – Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is a 157-bed facility that includes 131 licensed acute care beds and 26 skilled nursing home beds. Fully accredited by The Joint Commission, the hospital offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services supported by a qualified and diverse medical staff. Key services include a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a 12-bed Geriatric Psychiatry Unit, and a 12-bed Acute Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation Unit. The facility also features a Skilled Nursing Unit, Sleep Lab, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, five Operating Rooms, and two Endoscopy Suites. Diagnostic imaging services include MRI, CT, PET/CT, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, and X-ray. The hospital’s 13-bay Emergency Department sees more than 15,000 patient visits annually.

Highpoint Health – Sewanee with Ascension Saint Thomas, located on the campus of the University of the South, is a 41-bed facility offering 21 general acute care beds and 20 skilled nursing beds. It includes a 4-bay Emergency Department that treats more than 5,000 patients each year. As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Under the direction of an RN or Med-Surge Charge Nurse, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.

Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care. May administer medication. Documents patient care given.

Assists RN with development of plan of care.

Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.

Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service, projects and committees as assigned.

Adheres to and supports policies and procedures ofHighpoint Health with Ascension Saint Thomas.

Works scheduled shifts including overtime, when necessary.

Accepts all call schedule as directed.

Maintains a neat and professional appearance in compliance to the existing dress code.

Compliance to theHighpoint Health with Ascension Saint ThomasStandard of Behavior is required.

Graduate of a Practical Nursing program.

AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), within 30 days of hire
