Description:
Provides administrative and information technology support for the regional laboratory information system. Plans, organizes, directs, monitors, and schedules the daily and long range technical and personnel activities related to lab information systems for MercyOne. Assumes responsibility for developing, maintaining and continuously improving procedures that support the Laboratory Information Systems functionality and reporting.
+ Responsible for system integrity and optimum performance of IT applications related to laboratory transmission of test orders, results reporting and billing information.
+ Interacts on a regular basis with hospital information specialists, Trinity Health information technology resources and laboratory colleagues to facilitate effective communication and systems operational optimization.
+ Actively supports and assists laboratory leaders and key personnel within the lab regarding IT needs for instrumentation or other workflows
+ Ensures all software, including patches and upgrades work as intended verified by thorough testing in non-production environments with collaboration with organizational IT teams.
+ Coordinates the development and useful interdepartmental and intradepartmental management reports supporting day to day operations and business monitoring.
+ Manages the regional IT change request process, prioritizes and manages projects and engages resources as needed to ensure changes are implemented as designed.
+ Coordinates information systems downtime activities for all laboratory departments. Effectively communicates expectations for planned downtimes.
+ Coordinates the design, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of appropriate audit systems to ensure compliance with Federal and corporate business practices.
+ Participates in the interview and hiring process for staff vacancies in the areas of responsibility.
+ Schedules staff to ensure appropriate coverage. Monitors and adjusts staffing appropriate to the workflow.
+ Develops and maintains orientation materials and coordinates completion of staff orientation.
+ Completes annual performance evaluations and competency assessments.
+ Performs disciplinary action when indicated.
+ Ensures standard operating policies and procedures are current and adhere to the Laboratory’s document control system.
+ Ensures compliance with the requirements of laboratory regulatory and accrediting agencies.
+ Participates in lab leadership meetings to provide status updates regarding IT projects and tickets for LIS optimization.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Information Technology or equivalent.
+ Three years laboratory experience required.
+ One year supervisory experience preferred.
+ Laboratory information systems experience preferred.
+ Successful completion of a NAACLS or ABHES accredited clinical laboratory science program or alternate career path that meets certification eligibility requirements.
+ Certification in one of the following:
+ Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
+ Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
+ Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word/Excel.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills required.
+ Knowledge of applicable federal, state and regulatory standards required.
