Position Overview:The Blake School seeks a part-time woodwinds instructor to support our Middle and Upper School band programs. The Woodwinds Section Coach provides 6-8 small-group lessons/sectionals per month on the Middle School campus in Hopkins and weekly sectionals at the Upper School campus in Minneapolis. Sectional coaches offer supplementary instruction in woodwind technique, music theory, ensemble skills and musicianship skills. The position is for September 2025 through May 2026 with the possibility to return in future school years. Coaches also have the opportunity to act as a sectional lead during the MS and US orchestra concerts (December and May), Band Ensemble Festival Day (January) and the MS Band Solo Festival (March). Blake is particularly interested in candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, lived experienceand thinking that makes a community strong and empowers students to engage across differences.

Required Experience:

Required Experience:The successful candidate will be an actively practicing musician with significant teaching experience, effective rehearsal and classroom management skills and proven competency to teach woodwinds. Candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Candidates must enjoy working with middle and upper grade learners and value collaboration with department colleagues. Bachelor’s or equivalent degree required; MA or MM preferred.
