    Job Title: Phlebotomist Job Description

     

    We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Phlebotomist to join our team in a dynamic healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will excel in performing phlebotomy and managing specimen collection and processing, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and accuracy in laboratory operations.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform phlebotomy and collect appropriate specimens from patients as ordered.

    + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

    + Maintain proper documentation as described by the quality assurance program, including accessioning logs, equipment records, and checklists.

    + Send specimens to reference laboratories for any testing not performed in house.

    + Process incoming orders for lab testing.

    + Process in-house and incoming reports.

    + Update and file all daily paperwork, lab logs, and maintenance logs.

    + Operate designated laboratory equipment as directed.

    + Assist with patient flow as needed.

    + Properly identify patients, draw blood samples, and send to the laboratory for analysis.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Three or more years of phlebotomy experience required.

    + High school diploma or equivalent required.

    + Experience in an Oncology setting is a plus, but not required.

    + Fast learner who asks questions and is motivated.

    + Friendly demeanor with excellent customer service skills.

    Work Environment

    The position is based in a physician office attached to a hospital. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, with no weekend shifts and no overtime. The phlebotomist will work alongside another phlebotomist, handling a patient load ranging from 40 to 70 patients per day.

    This is a Contract position based out of Weslaco, Texas.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
