    R&D Seed Technician

    Location:

    + Whitestown, IN 46075

    + Compensation: $20 with potential pay increase after training

    About the Role

    Join Bayer’s Global R&D team as an R&D Seed Technician, where you'll contribute to the development and production of innovative seed and trait technologies. This hands-on role involves working in lab and warehouse environments to process, package, and manage small seed materials with precision and care.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Receive, scan, clean, treat, sort, count, label, and ship seed materials

    + Operate research and warehouse equipment; perform preventative maintenance

    + Follow all safety protocols and standard operating procedures

    + Conduct quality testing on incoming materials

    + Maintain GMP compliance and support hazard management

    + Perform audits, process validations, and corrective actions

    + Ensure adherence to regulated seed stewardship standards

    + Assist with labeling, packaging, and other departmental needs

    + Perform tasks requiring bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and extended periods of sitting or standing

     

    Facility Operations

    As part of the R&D production facility, you’ll rotate through several key areas:

    Receiving/Shipping: Intake and inspect incoming R&D seeds and materials

     

    Jarring: Prepare seeds in a repetitive, detail-focused station

     

    Source Handling & Filling: Operate automated equipment and manage seed flow into cassettes

     

    Tote Maintenance: Resolve quality issues and reintroduce seeds into production

     

    Quality Control: Conduct tests for several hours per shift and support other teams once testing is complete

    Qualifications

    Required:

    + High School Diploma

    + 1–2+ years of experience in agriculture, environmental science, manufacturing, or GMP-related fields

    + Strong attention to detail

    + Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, automated environment

    Preferred:

    + Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, environmental science, or other STEM field (may substitute for experience)

    + Experience with Microsoft Excel and quality systems

    + Skills in data management, tracking, and analysis

    Schedule

    + Monday–Friday, 1st Shift (Start time: 6:00 AM or 6:30 AM)

    + Initial training may follow a Monday–Thursday schedule

    + Overtime may be required

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
