Responsibilities

Ascension is looking for a Board Certified PA or a Board Certified/Board Eligible APRN for our Trauma/Acute care surgery Department.

This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Ascension to provide medical services to patients.

+ Must be able to practice on patients ages 13 and up. Will consider APRNs who can see 15 and up.

+ APRNs with Acute Care Adult, Adult/Gero, or Family certification preferred

Responsibilities:

+ Please be advised, this is not an operative position. While the role is with the general surgery department, Dell Seton is a teaching hospital, and most of the operating is performed exclusively by the residents.

+ This position involves pre/postoperative care and floor management of traumatic and acute care surgical patients.

+ The APP functions as the continuity of care amongst the surgical team, as residents rotate on and off the service. You will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including seeing new consults and floor patients, discharge planning, process improvement, collaborating with new residents, and some administrative tasks to help improve workflow. There are opportunities for procedures if interested. You will work alongside 2 other APPs who already practice in this role.

+ This position involves a lot of teaching and guiding residents as they onboard onto the service and move through their training.

+ You will work with a collaborative group including attendings, residents, other APP’s and medical students. This position requires flexibility and leadership skills within a team environment.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

+ Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

+ Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

+ BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

+ Drug Enforcement Admin credentialed from the Drug Enforcement Administration preferred.

Education:

+ Master's degree of Nursing required.
