POSITION DESCRIPTION
The City of Rochester now welcomes applications for
Full-time Community Service Officer
This opportunity is designed for individuals who are not currently aspiring to be police officers.
Community Service Officers perform general duty civilian public safety work which may consist of protecting life and property, maintaining order, preventing crimes, as well as enforcing laws and ordinances.

2025 Salary range is $27.16 to $34.03 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Rochester Community Service Officers:
+ perform a support function to the police department’s patrol division
+ respond to and handle non-emergency calls for service
+ Enforce parking violations
+ Interview victims and witnesses in the investigation of non-emergency calls
+ Collect evidence from crime scenes
+ Write detailed police reports
+ Provide traffic direction at special events, accidents, and other incidents as requested
+ Explain police, animal or parking control procedures to the public

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must:
+ Complete their application online and include both a cover letter and a resume.
+ Possess a high school diploma or equivalent GED
+ Have either a 2-year degree in Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice
OR a minimum of 2 years of full-time job experience in a related field
+ Possess a valid driver's license.
+ Complete job-related physical testing, a thorough background, medical assessment, and psychological assessment prior to being hired.
Desirable Qualifications
+ Law Enforcement, Public Safety, or First Responder related job experience
+ CPR/First Aid/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
+ Experience working with computers and portable radios.
