Description
Position Summary
The Director of Clinical Education manages clinical education experiences for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. This role oversees recruitment, placement, and assessment of clinical sites while ensuring CAPTE accreditation compliance and supporting student success through coordinated clinical placements, documentation management, and clinical partner relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Site Management & Student Placement
+ Plan and coordinate full time clinical placements and Integrated Clinical Experiences (ICE) for all DPT students
+ Serve as program liaison to clinical sites, maintaining relationships and ensuring sufficient placements
+ Secure, manage, and track Memorandums of Agreement (MOAs) and Certificates of Insurance for clinical sites
+ Oversee student and site documentation, including compliance records, immunizations, background checks, and clinical instructor credentials
+ Ensure compliance CAPTE accreditation requirements and support strategic goals through data tracking and reporting
+ Train clinical instructors and coordinate annual workshops to enhance student learning
Student Placement & Engagement
+ Manage student placement at appropriate clinical sites, ensuring availability of approximately 225 placements annually
+ Supervise clinical education team in placement logistics, compliance tracking, and recordkeeping
+ Use software systems to submit placement requests, track approvals, and maintain updated records
+ Monitor and resolve student compliance issues prior to placements; coordinate eRecord access and training
+ Collect and evaluate clinical placement feedback, recommending improvements to the Program Director and faculty
Teaching
+ Lead courses as assigned by the Program Director
+ Develop and implement assessments and checklists for full-time and part-time clinical experiences
+ Track and document student progress throughout full-time clinical experiences
+ Lead annual Clinical Instructor Workshop
Research
+ Maintain independent or collaborative research activities with a minimum of one project annually
+ Present findings through peer-reviewed presentations or publications
+ Research scope may include clinical, educational, data science, or other relevant projects
Qualifications
Education & Licensure
+ Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree required
+ Post-entry level degree (EdD, PhD, or equivalent) preferred
+ Current, active physical therapy license
+ Minimum 3 years full-time post-licensure clinical practice
Experience Requirements
One of the following:
+ At least 1 year experience as clinical education site coordinator or clinical instructor in physical therapy
+ OR minimum 2 years’ experience in teaching, curriculum development, and administration in physical therapist education
Technical Skills
+ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
+ Experience with database management and clinical education software
+ Computer software troubleshooting capabilities

+ Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail
+ Ability to multitask and manage frequent interruptions
+ Sound professional judgment and critical thinking skills
+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
+ Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and FERPA compliance
+ Effective negotiation and presentation skills

The referenced pay range represents the full base range of pay for this position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job's salary range and established based on market data, experience, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
