    Summary:

    The Operations Trainee position is designed to provide a structured, hands-on learning experience that develops a well-rounded understanding of our business operations. Through a progressive training program, the trainee will gain exposure to each core function of the company, building a foundation of knowledge and skills that will prepare them for long-term career opportunities within any segment of the business.

     

    Training Path

     

    + Warehouse Operations (Receiving & Shipping)

    + Learn day-to-day warehouse processes including inventory management, order fulfillment, receiving procedures, shipping documentation, and quality control.

    + Understand how operational accuracy and efficiency impact customer satisfaction and overall business success.

    + Accounting Fundamentals (Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable)

    + Gain an introduction to the financial side of operations by working within AP and AR.

    + Develop an understanding of vendor invoicing, payment cycles, customer billing, collections, and reconciliation.

    + Learn how financial accuracy supports healthy cash flow and vendor/customer relationships.

    + Purchasing

    + Participate in procurement activities including supplier communication, order placement, cost analysis, and inventory planning.

    + Learn how purchasing decisions affect operations, financial outcomes, and customer fulfillment.

    + Overall Operations

    + Integrate knowledge from previous rotations to see how each function works together to support the company’s goals.

    + Participate in cross-departmental projects, process improvement initiatives, and operational planning.

    + Develop leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills to prepare for advancement opportunities.

     

    By rotating through each area of the business, the Operations Trainee will build a comprehensive foundation of operational knowledge and experience. This program is intended to prepare individuals for future roles in management or specialized areas such as Warehouse Operations, Accounting, Purchasing, or General Business Operations, ensuring they are well-equipped to contribute to the success of the organization.

     

    Reports to: Operations Manager

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Must be at least 18 years of age

    + Bachelors Degree

    + Current, valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

    + Authorization to work in the United States (without requiring work authorization sponsorship by CED now or in the future)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Strong negotiation skills

    + Strong attention to detail and time management

    + Ability to solve complex problems

    + The ideal candidate possesses outstanding communication skills, the desire for growth within a career, and thrives in a fast paced, multi-faceted industry

    Working Conditions:

    Conditions vary based on the trainee's segment of the training and will include warehouse (inside and outside) and office environments. During some segments, activities will include lifting, sorting, standing, and possible extreme heat/cold conditions. Office segments may include sitting for extended periods.

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities: No

    Essential Job Functions:

    + Learning all aspects of the CED business relevant to Operations.

    + Attending classes online as well as in-person when available

    + On the job training and mentoring

    + Establish, develop, and maintain relationships with customer and fellow employees.

    Compensation Range:

    The compensation range for this position is $18 to $25 hourly.
