Plant Quality Manager – Brownfield Manufacturing Site Launch - Southeastern Wisconsin
A global manufacturer in the industrial and infrastructure sector is launching a brand-new U.S. production facility in Southeastern Wisconsin to meet accelerating demand from blue-chip customers. We are seeking an experienced Plant Quality Manager to design, implement, and lead the entire quality function for this flagship site.
This is a ground-floor leadership opportunity: you will establish the quality systems, build a team, and ensure customer trust from the very first shipment. If you thrive in brownfield or ramp-up environments, this is your chance to build something lasting.
What’s In It for You:
+ **Legacy Opportunity** – Build the quality function for a flagship U.S. facility
+ **Customer Impact** – Interface directly with some of the most recognizable names in the data and infrastructure sector
+ **Competitive Pay** – Market-aligned base salary + performance bonus + relocation support
+ **Career Growth** – Direct visibility with executive and global leadership teams
+ **Strong Benefits Package:**
+ Day 1 health, dental, vision coverage + EAP
+ Paid parental leave, maternity leave, and disability coverage
+ 401k with company match + HSA/FSA options
+ Tuition reimbursement & career development programs
+ Competitive PTO and work-life balance policies
What You’ll Do:
+ Develop and implement **plant-level quality systems** aligned with industry and customer expectations
+ Build and lead the **quality team** (initially 1 engineer + 2 inspectors, scaling with output)
+ Drive **in-process controls, inspection plans, and defect taxonomy** to prevent escapes
+ Lead **internal audits** and prepare for customer-facing reviews and visits
+ Partner with operations and engineering to **define CTQs, process gates, and corrective actions**
+ Establish and monitor **key plant metrics** : FPY, COPQ, escapes, NCR closure, training completion
+ Serve as the **customer-facing quality lead** , ensuring credibility, transparency, and trust
+ Launch continuous improvement initiatives using **Lean, 8D, Pareto, and root cause tools**
+ Train and mentor quality inspectors, fostering a culture of **accountability and improvement**
What We’re Looking For:
+ Bachelor’s degree in **Engineering, Quality Management, or related field** (required)
+ 5+ years in quality engineering or quality management within a manufacturing environment
+ Minimum 3+ years leading quality teams (not a first-time manager)
+ Experience in **complex/heavy assemblies** (industrial equipment, HVAC, power gen skids, rail, or similar)
+ Strong working knowledge of **ISO 9001** (IATF experience a plus)
+ Demonstrated experience building or scaling a **QMS from scratch** in a plant launch or expansion
+ Confident and credible in front of customers; disciplined enough to call **stop-ship** when needed
+ Proficiency with problem-solving and trend analysis (Pareto, FPY, escapes, 8D reporting)
Travel Expectations:
+ **Early Launch Phase:** Heavier travel (~50%, generally two weeks/month, weekdays) to partner with an established sister facility for process alignment and knowledge transfer
+ **Stabilization:** Travel reduces to ~10% once the Southeastern WI plant ramps up (late 2025)
+ **Ongoing:** Occasional travel for customer meetings, supplier quality reviews, or cross-site collaboration
