Job Title: Concrete Finisher
Job Description
We are seeking experienced commercial concrete finishers to assist with various commercial projects, including parking lots, parking garages, foundations, and walls. The role involves moving materials, laying concrete blankets, shoveling concrete, finishing, and forming curbs. You will follow behind a paver and use a shovel and/or a broom to move and smooth concrete.
Responsibilities
+ Move materials and lay concrete blankets.
+ Shovel and finish concrete, form curbs.
+ Follow behind a paver to move and smooth concrete with a shovel and broom.
+ Work in extreme weather conditions and adapt to variable hours based on weather.
+ Push, pull, and drag equipment with a team member in concrete for 8+ hour days.
Essential Skills
+ 1+ year of experience in outdoor labor work such as construction, roofing, landscaping, or concrete.
+ 1+ year of experience pouring foundation walls, parking garages, and parking lots.
+ Ability to take directions, listen, and follow instructions without pushback.
+ Capable of lifting over 100 lbs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 6+ years of commercial concrete experience.
+ Own construction boots or ability to purchase them.
+ Willingness to work 60+ hours a week, including Saturdays.
+ Preferred: paving experience, pouring curbs, and any construction work focused specifically on concrete.

Work Environment
You will be part of a team in a construction environment that involves working with concrete in outdoor settings. Be prepared to get dirty and work in adverse weather conditions, including heat in summer and cold in winter. The mainline crew consists of 16 people, while the handwork crew includes 12 people. The workday starts at 6:30 am or 7 am and lasts 10-12 hours, depending on the weather. Flexibility is essential, as work may be inconsistent due to rain or temperature fluctuations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Urbandale, Iowa.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
