Description

Candidates will be working in one of two departments but mainly in Unloading and receiving as product comes in.

Candidates are assigned a dock and will unload all 18 wheelers at that dock; palletize materials that are generally already labeled, and put them onto the conveyance system to get added into the system.

Cross dock function will basically then move the product straight to shipping without being added to inventory, however must also be flexible for labeling or even moving into the shipping area to load trucks if needed.

Manage freight flow by moving and unloading freight manually as contract associates will not be operating mobile equipment. Unloaders and loaders in both receiving and shipping will identify, separate, count, combine and scan freight using Warehouse management system terminal, scales and scanners

*Candidates will be responsible for handling and processing freight in a safe and cautious manner, tell management about unsafe work conditions and damaged product, and maintain a clean work area.

* If moved to loading they will be responsible for specific ways to load trucks as materials come down the conveyor systems or are delivered to them; i.e. heavy products on the bottom and lighter product on the top as their primary duty is material handling. This is a very labor intensive job as they could be off and on the backs of trailers consistently in BOTH roles.

*Candidate will enter and locate information on a computer or system communication device , must be able to write documents or reports if needed.

*This is primarily a job where they will stay near the dock all day as there isn't a significant amount of walking but there is a lot of lifting and loading

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Candidates must have a proven track record of good attendance (most important) and a desire to learn and be flexible for meeting goals hourly, daily, and weekly as this is a very busy time of year. Candidates that have previous experience with mobile equipment is a plus but would be a rare move to an equipment operator

Candidates must have been in previous roles that are labor intensive and must understand the strict break structure

Candidates must have previous truck experience as the backs of those trucks are very hot and they are held to 1000 pieces moved and conveyed per hour

**Lifting requirements could be up to 60lbs and if asked; could move between areas therefore flexibility and a lot of walking could be involved simply based on the size of the facility. Loading and Cross Dock however are very close together.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
