Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Technician to perform specialized testing procedures and preliminary screenings for physician review. This role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining equipment, assisting patients, and ensuring quality control. The successful candidate will manage inventory and perform additional clinical activities as needed.
Responsibilities
+ Perform specialized testing procedures appropriate to the ophthalmology specialty.
+ Conduct preliminary screening examinations for physician review.
+ Review patient charts, conditions, and physician notes to determine testing methods.
+ Position patients and assist with transfers as necessary.
+ Set up, operate, and maintain equipment for tests and procedures.
+ Report equipment problems and liaise with repair personnel.
+ Maintain quality control checks and log service records.
+ Order and maintain inventory of supplies and ensure disposal inventory compliance.
+ Perform additional functions related to clinical activities.
Essential Skills
+ 3+ years of experience in optometry or ophthalmology.
+ Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification is preferred.
+ Experience with Epic systems.
+ Proficiency in manual refraction.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High school diploma required.
+ Certification as a COA, COT, or COMT preferred.
Work Environment
The position is based in a very large and busy office in New Haven. The work schedule is typically between 8:00 AM and 5:30 PM. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced, providing exceptional medical care in a nurturing setting.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of New Haven, Connecticut.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00/hr.
