    Seeking a Staff Accountant for an Insurance Company in the Urbandale Area!!

    Job Description

    This role involves applying fees and commission cash receipts across multiple entities, addressing inquiries from stakeholders across various lines of business, and partnering with team members to develop process efficiencies. The position requires creating and maintaining relationships with stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely cash receipt application. You will prepare journal entries, manage money moves, handle payments, and produce billing and administrative system accounting reports.

    Responsibilities

    + Prepare and analyze various accounting reports, including variances to forecast, budget, and prior year.

    + Coordinate revenue and expense accruals to ensure timely and accurate monthly and quarterly close.

    + Perform variation and trend analysis for key general ledger accounts or reports.

    + Apply funds to insured records and process refunds.

    + Request payments for carriers and third parties, and present findings to senior management, partners, carriers, or clients.

    + Assist with the development, implementation, and documentation of internal and external accounting and operating policies.

    + Ensure compliance with corporate policies, carrier agreements, SOX procedures, SSAE16 procedures, tax regulations, local GAAP, and US GAAP, as well as local statutory regulations.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in general ledger management and journal entry preparation.

    + Experience with cash reconciliation and cash flow analysis.

    + Familiarity with commissioning processes.

    + Intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Excel.

    + 1-3 years of accounting experience.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Associate degree or equivalent experience in accounting.

    + A college degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline is a plus.

    Work Environment

    The position offers a hybrid or onsite work environment with initial training in the office for 4 to 8 weeks. As knowledge increases, onsite days will reduce, transitioning to a hybrid model. The team works together in the office every Tuesday and every other Monday.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Urbandale, Iowa.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
