Low Voltage Technician — Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Low Voltage Technician. The ideal candidate will have experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low voltage systems—including security, fire alarms, access control, audio-visual, and structured cabling solutions.

Responsibilities

+ Install, test, and maintain low voltage systems including data, voice, and video cabling

+ Diagnose and repair malfunctions in systems such as CCTV, intrusion alarms, and access control

+ Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to complete installations

+ Pull and terminate cables with precision (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optics, etc.)

+ Work safely with tools, ladders, and lifts, following all safety regulations

+ Collaborate with project managers and other technicians to ensure timely completion

+ Document work completed and communicate updates clearly with stakeholders

Qualifications

+ High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school preferred

+ Proven experience in low voltage electrical work or structured cabling

+ Knowledge of NEC standards and local building codes

+ Ability to read blueprints and system layouts

+ Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

+ Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

+ Certifications (e.g., BICSI, NICET, OSHA 10/30) a plus

Physical Requirements

+ Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, crouch, and climb ladders

+ Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights

+ Standing or walking for extended periods
