Facility Overview

Kerrville State Hospital provides inpatient psychiatric care for individuals who have been acquitted of criminal offenses by reason of insanity and are court-committed. The facility offers a secure, therapeutic environment for long-term treatment of patients under legal supervision.

Position Summary

LVNs at Kerrville State Hospital deliver direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and Unit Nurse Manager. This role involves complex vocational nursing duties in a secure forensic psychiatric setting.

Key Responsibilities

+ Provide direct nursing care and support to patients with serious mental illness

+ Administer medications and treatments as prescribed

+ Monitor and document patient health status and behavior

+ Collaborate with RNs and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans

+ Assist with therapeutic activities and behavior management

+ Maintain compliance with safety, infection control, and facility protocols

+ Respond to emergencies and follow crisis intervention procedures

+ Support patients in activities of daily living (ADLs)
