Nexstar Media Group is seeking a dynamic and creative Special Projects Producer to join a team focused on developing major content projects across the group. This role is instrumental in executing company-wide initiatives across local broadcast and digital platforms. We’re looking for a visionary storyteller with strong journalistic instincts, a passion for compelling content, and the ability to engage diverse audiences. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple projects simultaneously, and collaborates effectively across departments. This role involves developing original ideas, researching storylines, producing both short and long-form video content, and creating opportunities for local markets to customize material. Flexibility in scheduling and travel—both planned and spontaneous—is essential.
Key Responsibilities
+ Coordinate calendars and timelines for multiple projects with precision and attention to detail.
+ Collaborate across departments including news, digital, promotions, operations, and production.
+ Write, produce, and edit content for broadcast, Connected TV (CTV), and digital platforms.
+ Contribute to editorial planning for large-scale initiatives and breaking news coverage.
+ Oversee post-production to ensure accuracy and quality.
+ Travel as needed to support live events and on-location production.
+ Communicate project opportunities and updates across Nexstar operations.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
+ Minimum of two years’ experience in news operations.
+ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
+ Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate across teams.
+ Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
+ Familiarity with modern television production technology.
+ Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
+ Willingness to work flexible hours and shifts.
+ Must be based in or willing to relocate to a Nexstar market with a local newsroom supporting all dayparts.
+ Physical presence in a Nexstar facility is required.
