    The position will lead program innovation to ensure that (a) experiential learning for Foster School and UW students continues to accelerate skills and knowledge development, (b) programs that serve businesses in under-served communities continue to evolve by incorporating new cutting-edge techniques and business strategies, and (c) strengthen and maintain partnership key stakeholders to ensure program sustainability. This position works closely with the Director of Washington State Programs to plan, execute and manage student consulting projects, faculty-led professional development education, and marketing/communications.

     

    The Consulting and Business Development Center is the nation's largest university-based and business-school based center focused on advancing insights about and fostering progress for socially and economically disadvantaged businesses. This position is responsible for leading and innovating programs that will expand that national leadership role.

     

    The Center's core programs have undergraduate, and MBA students work on consulting projects with small businesses in diverse, under-served communities and with other small businesses and non-profit organizations in Washington State.

     

    This position will oversee the daily program management of these projects representing the center with all wide variety of students, faculty, business owners, nonprofit organizations, CEO's and civic leaders. This is a detail-oriented position and requires someone capable of multi-tasking and the ability to evaluate program effectiveness and continually improve program design and delivery. They must be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals.

     

    The Consulting and Business Development Center accelerates student careers and grows businesses in under-served communities. The Center offers programs for undergraduate and MBA students that engage them in solving complex, real-world business challenges.

     

    Additionally, our faculty-led programs improve the management skills of businesses in underserved communities across Washington. The Center has become a national model among business schools. This position plays a key role for the Center in managing the marketing, finances, communications, and event planning functions within the program they manage.

     

    _i. Ensure continued innovation that builds on the Center's model and founding principles of accelerating student careers, advancing businesses in under-served communities and those owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, and creating new knowledge through research. This includes the Board Fellows Program, Summer Consulting Program, and Foster Ignition MBA Finance Course._

     

    a. Plan, execute and manage day-to-day operations of the projects and programs for the center.

    b. Work with faculty to deliver business seminars and classes.

    c. Evaluate existing programs to make sure they are adding to the competitiveness of businesses in underserved communities.

    d. Assist in securing program sponsors for programs

    e. Manage donor relations and produce donor reports for programs

     

    _ii. Recruit students, volunteers, and small business participants for the programs, including the CBDC’s Summer Consulting Program and Foster Ignition Fund MBA Course._

     

    a. Recruit students to participate in the center programs

    b. Recruit and manage volunteers who assist in the student consulting teams

    c. Secure sufficient small business and nonprofit participation in each program to ensure that we meet and exceed donor requirement and to ensure financial, self-sufficiency for each program

    d. Expand partnerships with alumni and other key partners to continue to grow the programs

    e. Assist in securing program sponsors for programs

    f. Manage donor relations and produce donor reports for programs

    g. Deliver presentations about the center and its programs to business owners, CEO, nonprofit executives, civic leaders and elected officials

     

    _iii. Program operations and administration_

     

    • Manage the center’s budget expenses and actual expenditure reports

    • In partnership with the Director of Program and Director of Washington State Programs, create an operations budget and monitor spending.

    • Ensure compliance with UW procurement and contracting policies and procedures.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's Degree in business, communications, education, economics, ethnic studies, or related fields.

    + Two years of experience experience inbusiness, communications, education, economics, ethnic studies, or related fields and have demonstrated experience working in multicultural communities and with Individuals from racial and ethnic diverse backgrounds in a domestic US context.

    + Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

    Desired Qualifications:

    Experience in managing programs and projects, have experience in marketing and promoting programs, strong verbal and written communications skills, demonstrated ability to execute and manage a wide range of projects, a demonstrated ability to learn new skills and proficiency with MS office software. This position also requires travel throughout Washington and limited travel outside of Washington which includes some overnight trips.

     

    The person hired for this position will have lead responsibilities for a number of programs. Prior experience in working with students, nonprofit organizations, and/or small businesses and experience in working in under-served communities is also desirable.

    Working Conditions:

    This is a full time in-person position with some flexibility for remote work.

     

    Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

    Pay Range Minimum:

    $76,596.00 annual

    Pay Range Maximum:

    $130,032.00 annual
