Department Summary:
Religious, Secular and Spiritual Life was established at the University of Michigan in 2023 as part of the Division of Student Life. RSSL supports the campus community in exploring beliefs, values, spiritual discoveries and life's meaningful questions. This inaugural role will work alongside the RSSL Lead to build and sustain a cross campus coalition that promotes religious pluralism, religious literacy and spiritual wellness.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the RSSL Lead, this role emphasizes Communications and Student Programming/Support. RSSL serves as a resource for students, faculty and staff to explore topics related to meaning-making, religious inclusion and spiritual wellness. The Program Manager will develop and implement a communications strategy, including creating web content, launching an e-newsletter and designing communication materials (both print and digital), to effectively engage a decentralized campus community and promote inclusivity across diverse religious, secular and spiritual identities. This position will supervise 1-2 graduate students and collaborate with the interfaith student organization to create programs that align with RSSL's mission and campus initiatives including the Well-being Collective and Student Success Initiative. This position will also closely partner with Student Life's centralized Communications, Marketing and Design team. **This is a 3-year term limited position.**
Responsibilities*
Program Management (50%): This position will develop interfaith programming and religious pluralism opportunities for students
+ Design and facilitate discussions on religious and spiritual identities and traditions
+ Coordinate the operational facets of complex programs, including setting objectives, managing logistics, and arranging for staffing and on-site support.
+ Oversee interfaith leadership initiatives, supervise Interfaith graduate Interns, and coordinate local and national interfaith leadership training opportunities.
+ Mentor student leaders in interfaith cooperation, identity development, values in action and navigating diverse perspectives.
+ Co-lead large campus programs including Festifaith
+ Partner strategically with other campus initiatives focused on student success, civic engagement, diversity of thought and wellness
+ Serve as a member of the RSSL steering committee to implement strategic priorities
Communications Strategy, Content Creation, and Outreach (40%): This position will lead out the content creation for a new website that will serve as a digital hub for U-M and oversee outreach and publicity initiatives.
+ Develop and implement strategies to increase RSSL's visibility via social media, new web presence and in partnership with units across campus.
+ Oversee content creation for bi-weekly e-newsletter
+ Manage the design and production of digital displays, print and promotional materials
+ Ensure website content remains current
+ Support outreach efforts including tabling events, orientations and campus days
+ Collaborate with the Provost's office to update the religious holidays calendar annually
+ Assist in developing annual reports and visual aids
Other Duties (10%): Support of Divisional priorities
+ Act as liaison between RSSL and various communication channels within Student Life
+ Build relationships with University and Student Life departments and provide leadership on committees
Required Qualifications*
+ Bachelor's degree
+ 2-5 years of relevant experience developing and leading programs or new initiatives
+ Ability to manage projects independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate in team settings
+ Commitment to promoting inclusion and understanding cultural, ethnic and individual differences
+ Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
+ Adaptability and problem solving skills in a fast-paced environment
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and navigate change
Desired Qualifications*
+ Experience in designing effective communication strategies for diverse groups
+ Familiar with Canva, Adobe Cloud or similar software
+ Master's degree (or in-progress) in a relevant field
+ Experience in a complex organization
+ Background in social justice education, community organizing or interfaith engagement

Financial/Budgetary Responsibility:
+ Manage budgetary responsibilities of around $40,000
Working Conditions:
+ Hybrid schedule (2 days remote/3 in office) available after 60 daysOccasional night and weekend responsibilities required
Direct Reports:
+ Supervise 1-2 graduate students and 1-2 additional student staff

Salary may vary depending on qualifications, experience, and education of the selected candidate.
