Your role and responsibilities
We are seeking a driven and innovative Postdoctoral Research Scientist with expertise in Computational Science, AI and machine learning engineering, and mathematical models. This role and the cross-disciplinary collaborations already established within the global IBM Research team will offer you an exciting opportunity to advance research at the intersection of different domains. You will apply AI, machine learning workflows, and predictive models to address complex challenges across diverse research fields. You will lead pioneering scientific projects, design state-of-the-art pipelines, and implement multi-agent systems within a world-class research environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and implement machine learning algorithms to derive novel insights from multimodal datasets by leveraging advanced machine learning frameworks.
• Contribute to the development of foundational models and workflows for applications in different areas.
• Publish high-impact research, file patents for novel methodologies, and present findings at prestigious conferences.
• Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies and contribute to the development of cutting-edge tools and platforms.
Required technical and professional expertise
• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and technologies like TensorFlow, PyTorch, CUDA, and Ray.
• Familiarity with high-performance computing environments, cloud platforms, and DevOps tools (Docker, GitHub Actions).
• A solid publication record demonstrating the ability to conduct and communicate impactful research.
Preferred technical and professional experience
• Proficiency in test-driven development and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices to ensure robust and scalable workflows.
• Experience in knowledge engineering, machine learning, and scientific software development.
• Familiarity with multi-agent frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph) and advanced RAG workflows.
• Proven success in collaborating across disciplines to deliver innovative solutions.
• Deep knowledge of computational biology, biochemistry, and/or materials science.
