Job Description
The Lead Access Consultant arranges and/or provides reasonable accommodations for a caseload comprised of qualified students with disabilities in diverse programs at the University, and also serves as the identified lead access consultant. This individual facilitates communication with students, academic program directors, chairs, and deans; Student Success personnel; and faculty to ensure accommodations are reasonable, appropriate, consistent with any technical standards and essential course outcomes, and reflect the requirements of the ADA (as amended) and comply with other relevant legal guidance and University Policy. Services are provided at all four Metro State University locations and any consortium locations across the seven-county metro area.
Salary Range:
$54,344.00 - $116,608.00 annually
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Only applicants whose application materials clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for the position:
+ 4 years of relevant advanced professional experience in at least two of the following areas: facilitating access for people with disabilities, working in higher education, providing supervision to service providers
+ Subject matter expert in the areas of Universal Design, the Social Justice Model of Disability, and disability law
+ Substantial knowledge of federal and state laws regarding access for people with disabilities
+ Substantial experience integrating disability access and accommodations in university environments and processes
+ Experience in providing consultation on disability issues
+ Communication sufficient to prepare messages and materials for diverse audiences and clearly explain, discuss, and present complex ideas, regulations, policies, and/or procedures
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Student Personnel, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field
+ Knowledge and understanding of trends and issues in disability access in a college setting
+ Demonstrated ability to effectively meet the demands of multiple stakeholders
+ Demonstrated ability to manage stress, adapt to change and remain professional when receiving new or changed work direction
+ Demonstrated capacity to work in a diverse environment, remaining positive, proactive, resourceful and efficient
+ Project planning, development and management skills
+ Certification in American Sign Language

This is a full-time/probationary position within the Center for Accessibility Resources (CAR).
