WSP is currently initiating a search for **a Startup and Commissioning Manager** to join our Power Generation team in _Houston, TX._ The candidate will be involved in projects with our Power & Energy Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact
You will work with a team of technical experts that perform activities to validate construction, integrity, and confirm operability of facilities in terms of performance, reliability, safety and security. Our experts contribute to the configuration of facilities in their planning stage, participate in optimization studies in the design phase, witness equipment and system functional testing during construction phase and develop readiness plans and training to achieve transition from the construction phase to full operations.
As a Startup and Commissioning Manager you will be responsible for addressing and executing policy including financial, marketing, managerial, administrative and technical matters. You may serve as a Department Manager or Assistant Department Manager.
Design:
+ Review startup and commissioning plans incorporating construction phases
+ Review schedule/commissioning process activities
+ Review energy auditing actions
+ Review site visits to conduct functional performance testing and validate equipment
+ Oversee close out, including testing and balancing, controls, start up and commissioning
+ Coordinate tasks for larger projects
+ Lead tasks for technical assignments
+ Develops and manages work plans for addressing technical issues, staying within project time and budget
Analytics:
+ Demonstrates strong competence in analytical techniques in solving complex technical problems
+ Demonstrates excellence and innovation in providing high quality level technical performance
+ Approves and signs off on work
+ Review document logs of control, functionality verification, equipment testing and creating of checklists/ punch lists
+ Presents complex technical solutions to clients
+ May provide input on estimates for project schedules and resources
+ Oversee the schedules/objectives for project and staff
+ Review information for proposal documents, specifications, and reporting
+ Manages project teams and small- to mid-size projects
+ Competence in analytical techniques in solving complex technical problems
+ Demonstrates excellence and innovation in providing high quality level technical performance
+ Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others
Collaboration:
+ Regularly imparts professional knowledge and skills to others
+ Develops relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
+ Leads team and/or project meetings and interface with internal specialty groups
+ Provides technical direction to others on studies
+ Manage or mentor junior staff
+ Participate in conference programs, panels
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
+ Other duties as required by business needs
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or 12+ years of Experience in lieu of degree.
+ 12+ years of experience in power generation, power plants and recent experience in startup and commissioning of complex projects, preferably with behind the meter project but not necessary
+ Valid driver’s license
+ Ability to work efficiently in a team environment
+ Excellent verbal communication and writing skills
+ Attention to detail and highly organized
+ Self-starter, able to work independently as well as multi-task
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements and possible long term project site presence upon request from the client
