Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

As Quality Manager, you will lead a team of talented quality professionals responsible for incoming, in process and final quality inspections. You will manage a site responsible for inspecting hardware covering a large supply chain of electronics, mechanical parts and semiconductors. You will be responsible for hiring, developing and coaching quality personnel, building a well-organized work area and delivering inspection processes to Takt time.
Key job responsibilities
- Oversee engineers, supervisors and leads within the inspection team, prioritizing work as needed, addressing escalations, and being able to quickly determine path forward in ambiguous situations.
- Hire and develop a Quality Team. The right candidate will be able to identify staffing needs and hold a high bar in new employee selection.
- Lead Lean and 5S activities among the inspection processes to drive efficiency within the Quality Inspection Center and reduce non-value-added time.
- Own Material Review Board (MRB) mechanisms to ensure defective parts are contained, identified, dispositioned and that corrective actions are executed to prevent reoccurrence.
- Initiate and oversee kaizen projects to reduce cycle time, cost, defects and improve product quality.
- Lead strategic efforts for the setup and/or transfer of inspection capabilities and work cells within new manufacturing centers, or new work cells within the assembly areas of Kuiper.
- Serve as the Face of Quality for the Project Kuiper's Everett site
A day in the life
This role is a people manager and is the quality leader for Kuiper's inspection center. This role must identify and solve problems within internal fulfillment and manufacturing operations while coaching teams and developing mechanisms to consistently deliver high-quality products.

Kuiper Quality’s mission is to ensure that our supply chain, manufacturing and launch operations build, deliver and launch high-quality satellite infrastructure that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years direct management of Quality Inspection and/or Manufacturing personnel, while working in an Aerospace or Automotive manufacturing environment producing multi-disciplinary hardware products.
- 7+ years’ experience with inspection/assembly processes within aviation, aerospace electronics, wiring harnesses, machined parts, coatings, and other common product types.
- Experience with ISO 9001 / AS9100 requirements
- Hands on experience using Lean Six Sigma tools to drive quantified process improvement
Preferred Qualifications
- ASQ -Certified Quality Engineer, or Manager
- Program Management Experience
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- 7+ years’ experience using data to find root cause, develop solutions and implement corrective action plans

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $100,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $150,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
