Amazon Web Services is seeking bright, motivated, hardworking individuals to fill Data center Logistics Specialist positions. The ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic, attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines, and a commitment to Safety & Operational Excellence.

     

    Logistics Specialists monitor inventory levels to ensure that proper stock levels are maintained to support build and repair activities. They receive parts, maintain inventory, and check-out parts as needed to Data center Technicians and Engineers. They will also be responsible for loading and unloading shipments and transporting parts between different locations.

     

    This position involves frequent lifting of materials and products. Logistics Specialists will be required to keep precise records of all commodities going in and out of company. They must also maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of all work spaces. They must be available to work weekend shift work.

     

    The ideal candidate will have experience working in a warehouse or distribution environment, as well as experience and knowledge of reverse logistics processes. Experience handling vendor relationships is helpful.

    Physical and Environmental Demands

    Key job responsibilities

    • Ensure that all billing associated with the Inventory supply chain is accurate, validated and ready for processing

    • Assembling, addressing, stamping and arranging for the shipment of merchandise and materials

    • Assist in daily scheduling of deliveries and pick-ups to and from production locations

    • Keep precise records of all commodities going in and out of company

    • Understand all aspects of production, adhere to strict safety standards, maintain very high quality, and be willing and able to work on powered equipment (i.e forklift or cherry picker).

    A day in the life

     

    The Logistics Specialist reviews Data Center inventory, in-bound shipments, and ongoing demand to ensure that proper stock levels are maintained in the all locations to support build and repair activities. Working with the Logistics Manager, you will create plans to optimize the flow of parts through their lifecycle; tracking inventory location, movement, age, and turns. You will work closely with Data Center Operations Technicians and Data Center Engineers to fulfill parts quickly and accurately. You will also work with Procurement and Hardware Engineering to purchase new parts and interface directly with vendors to process RMAs and receive replacements. Regular and ongoing communications with vendors to resolve issues and help them understand our business requirements necessitates a high-level communicator.

    A Logistics Warehouse Builder is expected to learn and become proficient in the four below core Warehouse Operation Workflows (WOW). A Builder is expected to use their knowledge of these workflows, along with provided tools and systems, to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Performance Metrics as communicated by leadership.     Builder Expectations

    Logistics Warehouse Builders are expected to follow the below expectations, regardless of level or specialization. Builders are responsible for adhering to these expectations in addition to any workflow-specific requirements detailed in individual Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). If at any time a Builder is unsure about how to meet these expectations or encounters conflicting priorities, they should promptly escalate their concerns to leadership for clarification and guidance.

    Operational Expectations

    A Builder is responsible for accurately reflecting all physical movements of parts in the corresponding virtual systems, regardless of the specific workflow being executed. It is imperative that all assigned tasks are completed within the Builder's shift, ensuring no incomplete work is carried over to the next shift unless explicitly approved by leadership. If all assigned tasks are unable to be completed by that Builder, they should notify leadership promptly so work can be shifted to maintain operational excellence.

    Equipment & Safety Expectations

    A Builder must maintain all required certifications, complete all required training before it is due, and operate all equipment according to safety guidelines. Only certified personnel are permitted to use specialized equipment. Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times as specified by location requirements. All safety protocols must be followed without exception. If a Builder ever feel unsafe they should halt that work and any safety concerns should be immediately reported to leadership.

    Communication Expectations

    A Builder is expected to maintain professional communication across all channels and interactions. They must actively monitor team communication channels during their shift and respond promptly to operational needs. All written and verbal communication must adhere to professional business standards, ensuring clarity, respect, and effectiveness in all interactions with peers, leaders, managers, and customers. A Builder must strictly adhere to the company’s harassment policy, and ensure a respectful and inclusive work environment is maintained for all team members. If a Builder ever feels like communications between peers has been unprofessional they should immediately report to leadership.

    Time & Attendance Expectations

    A Builder is expected to adhere to all time and attendance policies. They are expected to work their assigned 40-hour schedule unless an alternative arrangement has been approved by management. If running late, attendance notifications must be provided at least 15 minutes before the shift start time. Time off requests must follow established procedures and receive prior approval. Any need for early departure must be communicated to leadership in advance.

    Workspace Management Expectations

    A Builder is expected to uphold 7S standards in their work areas throughout their shifts. All materials must be properly stored in their designated locations by the end of each shift, with no items left in temporary locations such as carts, desks, or workstations. Work areas must be cleaned and organized daily, and all shared equipment should be properly stored and set to charge at the end of each shift. If a Builder ever observes these standards not being upheld, they should immediately report to leadership.

    Basic Qualifications

    High school or equivalent diploma

     

    Knowledge of computer hardware components and operating systems

     

    Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications

     

    Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required

     

    Work 10 hour shifts as needed

     

    Are 18 years of age or older

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system and coordination with Manager

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $43,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $94,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
