Lead Phlebotomist Certified

Job Summary: Perform all required duties to safely collect blood specimens from all patient populations. Organizes shift collections. Ensures and monitors phlebotomy staff for quality, productivity and efficiency. Assists in training and competency assessment of phlebotomy team members. Accurately label, transport and perform pre-analytical processes to accession specimens into laboratory processes. Clerical duties may include demographic patient registration, clerical order entry, specimen transport documentation and packaging of specimens for transport. Participates in development and maintenance of dept. quality assurance.
Qualifications: High school diploma required. Associates Degree preferred. Two years of relevant phlebotomy experience required. Certification by ASCP, ASPT, AMT or NHA required. Knowledge of a range of laboratory tasks, collection equipment and software. Previous experience in leadership preferred. Considerable ability to work directly and compassionately with patients. Considerable ability to follow specified blood drawing techniques and ability to perform functions with high degree of accuracy and timeliness. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively coach and mentor employees. Strong organizational skills.
