    Responsibilities

    The Hematologic Malignancies program at Mayo Clinic in Arizona offers expert patient care and research in all areas of hematology with emphasis on plasma cell disorders, myeloproliferative disorders, lymphoma, and stem cell transplantation. The Division of Hematopathology at Mayo Clinic in Arizona currently includes seven members who are responsible for the diagnostic evaluation of peripheral blood, body fluid, bone marrow, and lymph node specimens from a primarily adult patient population. The group has diverse expertise and interests in all aspects of diagnostic Hematopathology, as well as scholarly activities, including grant funded research and teaching in the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in Arizona.

     

    The selected candidate will be expected to share call coverage and to contribute to daily clinical case sign- out of all components of the hematopathology practice, including bone marrow, lymph nodes, and other tissue specimens involved by hematolymphoid processes, as well as the evaluation of body fluids, peripheral blood smears, and flow cytometry. Additional responsibilities may also include directorship of a clinical laboratory section, teaching of residents, fellows, medical school students and allied health staff and research and scholarly activities. The position includes an academic appointment with the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.

    Qualifications

    Qualified candidates will be American Board of Pathology certified in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology, and certified or eligible in Hematopathology. Additional Molecular Pathology Board certification is preferred, but not required. The successful applicant will be experienced in all aspects of diagnostic hematopathology, including laboratory hematology, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, and molecular hematopathology. At least 3 years of post-graduate practice experience is preferred.
