The Accounting Associate plays a crucial role in the Philanthropic Asset Services (PAS) team, primarily responsible for administering and processing disbursements for the Donor Advised Funds (DAF), Endowments and the Jewish Community Endowment Pool (JCEP). Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, PAS, this position involves administrative tasks, data entry and compliance with processing standards.
_CJP is not able to offer visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship._
Essential Functions:
+ Monitor PAS email boxes and ensure team members respond to inquiries and requests.
+ Manage the DAF disbursement process, including review of grant recommendations submitted by donors ensuring accuracy and completeness.
+ Research new charities to verify the eligibility of the charity to receive grants.
+ Prepare information regarding rejected grants for the Committee on Development.
+ Provide administrative support through tasks such as paperless filing, generating reports emailing DAF participants and mail handling.
+ Maintain all payment logs ensuring completeness and accuracy
+ Maintain DAF and Endowment databases for signatory information, address updates, and other applicable information.
+ Update organizational information for grantees as applicable.
+ Respond to inquiries from staff and donors regarding DAF and Endowments in a timely manner.
+ Verify bank account information provided by grantees to ensure its completeness and accuracy.
+ Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
**Organizational Relationships/Scope:** Reports to Accounting Manager, Philanthropic Asset Services. Has no direct reports.
Working Conditions:
+ Hybrid Work Schedule: CJP staff follow a hybrid work model. On-site work is required on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while remote work is an option on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays with occasional in-person meetings on those days.
+ Physical Requirements: This role involves remaining in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for prolonged periods, primarily working at a computer. Staff need to be able to carry a laptop and bag to and from the office.

Requirements
Education:
+ BS or associate degree in accounting or business administration.
Experience:
+ Two years of applicable experience, preferably in a non-profit setting.
Skills/Competencies:
+ Strong customer service orientation with the ability to be pleasant and tactful under all circumstances.
+ Logic, problem solving and analytical skills.
+ Proficiency in data entry, with high accuracy and great attention to detail.
+ Solid organization skills, with ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
+ Ability to learn new software with proficient skills in Microsoft Office 365 applications.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Maintain confidentiality.
+ Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes and shifting priorities.
