Looking for someone who has excellent IV skills, will work with other MIA within Banner Imaging to build a strong team standardizing workflows. Need to be a team player, trustworthy and adaptable to change.

+ Possibility of covering at Tempe or Arcadia Imaging Clinics
SHIFT:
+ Full Time/ 40 Hours
+ Monday- Friday
+ 8:00am- 4:00pm (Can change depending on scheduling)
DUTIES:
+ Answering phones and calling provider’s offices
+ Checking in patients
+ Starting IV’s/getting patients ready and prepped for their exams
+ Assisting technologists
+ Pay attention to close detail on Virtual Cockpit days- Screening patients with Technologist on the Mic to clear before allowing patient into the room and be set up on the table.
CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE:
+ Medical Assistant Diploma
+ BLS
+ 3 years experience

POSITION SUMMARY
This position demonstrates advanced Medical Imaging Assistant knowledge within multiple departments. This position is responsible for assisting clinicians, technologists and nursing staff by performing non-technical, patient and procedure-related duties and providing medical care, as well as, implementing and evaluating direct patient care. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment and skills to provide an excellent patient experience for an assigned patient care area which promote an organized, efficient delivery of care to patients.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides assistance to Clinician, RN or Technologist with exams and clinic procedures which may include obtaining necessary supplies, ensuring procedure rooms are stocked appropriately, escorting patient to exam room, acting as a chaperone, taking patients vitals and history, as well as performing phlebotomies, IV insertion and discontinuation, Point of Care Testing (POCT) and setting up sterile procedural trays to assist in procedures with the Clinician. Adheres to radiation safety policies. Responsible for clarifying orders and monitoring patient schedules for accuracy prior to time of appointment.
2. Works within multiple departments including, but not limited to; MRI, CT, PET/CT, Breast IR procedures (MRI, US, Stereo, wirelocs, radioactive seeds, tag placements, FNA's, cystic drainage, etc.). May assist in IR procedures such as breast biopsies (MRI, US and mammography), thryoid biopsies and arthrograms. Maintains proficiency with the biopsy procedure manual for all biopsy exams. Is responsible for the handling and documentation of all tissue/fluid specimens as well as supplemental pathology documentation needed by affiliated labs. Properly disposes of all needles, medications and bodily fluids. May be required to perform ABI as well as participate in LSTAT training.
3. Assists in researching patient history and reports condition of patient which may be indicative of change in the patient's condition to the Clinician, RN or Technologist and would adjust the procedure. Proposes orders to primary care clinician as needed for continuation of care.
4. Maintains a complete patient record with admission, transfer and discharge information, progress notes, consent forms and enters patient information in the computer. Digitizes, formats, and uploads film-based or digital images into PACS. Provides support in the acquisition and distribution of digital patient records by fulfilling requests for images and reports ensuring availability in system, hard copy (film), and/or CD as required and follows proper protocols for releasing confidential patient information.
5. Maintains a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exams rooms and storage areas. Disinfects equipment and instruments using appropriate solutions following sterilization procedures. Follows manufacturer’s recommended and OSHA guidelines in handling of hazardous substances. Performs basic maintenance of equipment and coordinates needed maintenance for prompt repairs. Adheres to radiation safety policies, uses universal blood and body fluid precautions at all times as well as personal protective equipment as needed.
6. Orders supplies and stocks patient care areas including frequently used patient education materials. Monitors inventory including medication (e.g., expired medications/equipment and recalls).
7. Performs and provides documentation for safe procedure checklist and Time Out with technologist.
8. Performs all post procedure care and education including bandaging area, aftercare instructions, follow up results and treatment.
9. This position assists in the operations of the medical imaging department under direct supervision with technologists and nurses in department. Incumbents work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment with a strong focus on customer service. Must navigate a variety of separate computer programs at any given time and handle multiple demands on time. Internal customers: All levels of medical imaging and nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers: regulatory and health agencies, non-clinic providers and facilities, vendors, patients and family members.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Banner Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Certification for BLS is required.
Must possess one or more years of experience as a Medical Imaging Assistant. Experience providing direct patient care is required.
Must be able to exercise good judgment, effectively communicate, and use discretion with patients, staff and the general public. Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy is required. Requires strong computer skills, including the ability to work with medical software. Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Requires the ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
